ROCK SPRINGS, WY—SEPTEMBER 6, 2025—Cowboy Cadilac scored a decisive victory in the $250,000 Sweetwater Downs Quarter Horse Futurity on Saturday, covering 350 yards in 17.268 seconds and earning a 101 speed index.
Ridden by Juan Pulido and trained by Josh Taylor, the bay colt earned $100,000 for owner and breeder Bill Doenz of Oklahoma. Conditions were ideal with clear skies, a fast track, and no wind.
“This horse is really fast, I got a good break, but he has a little problem with lugging in,” said Pulido. “I was letting him run the last 250 yards, but still had a pretty good hold on him. He might have broken the track record if he stayed straight.”

By leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 and out of Ec Brandi by Hes Relentless, Cowboy Cadilac broke sharply from post eight and quickly gained the lead. He maintained control throughout and crossed the finish 1½ lengths ahead of his rivals, recording his most significant win to date.
The bay colt has won two of five career starts and banked $110,000.
Post-time favorite and fastest qualifier Deja Dulce, a sorrel gelding by leading first-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha out of La Deja Blue by Carters Cartel, finished second for owners Daisy Carlson and Joe Goggins.
Bred by Flag Ranch LLC and trained by Jess Matt, Deja Dulce overcame a hesitant break under jockey Jacob Cardenas to earn $50,000, increasing his earnings to $179,885. He won the Wyoming Downs Futurity in August.

Fooseylady, a sorrel filly by Foose out of Laazteca by Ausual Suspect, finished third for breeder Antonio Tinoco of Utah and owner-trainer Roberto Ortiz. Ridden by Minor Arana, she closed late to take a $25,000 share of the purse. Winner of the Hadley Gies Futurity in May, Fooseylady has won three of five starts and earned $58.913/
Pari-mutuel payoffs included $14.00 to win, $4.40 to place, and $2.80 to show on Cowboy Cadilac. Deja Dulce returned $3.40 to place and $2.60 to show, while Fooseylady paid $3.80 to show.
The remaining order of finish was Eye B Popping in fourth, followed by Fire In The Whole, State Secretz, Fancy Dashing Diva, Real Mistake, and Freedum.
