GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 5, 2025—Chilitos Wagon delivered a sharp performance to capture the $10,000 TPHBA Maiden Juvenile Stakes at Lone Star Park, covering the 300 yards in 15.437 seconds with a speed index of 91 on a fast track.
Ridden by Jorge Mares, Jr., the sorrel colt broke alertly, gained control midway, and pulled away to win by 1½ lengths. The victory was worth $5,700 for owner and trainer Omar Acosta.
Bred in Texas by Juan Acosta, Chilitos Wagon is by the leading second-crop Quarter Horse sire Chilitos and out of Miss Sassy Wagon, by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, and has earned $10,582 in four starts. He paid $7.20 to win, $4.40 to place, and $3.00 to show.
Cholula Sinn Fein finished second after rallying under Luis Vivanco, but could not close the gap on the winner. The sorrel filly by Chilitos out of Special Willa, by Special Willie, is bred and owned by Rene Rodriguez and trained by Angel Sanchez. She earned $1,900 and returned $7.00 to place and $3.60 to show.
Dashing Chilita finished third, a nose behind the runner-up, after breaking sharply and pressing the pace early. The sorrel filly by Chilitos out of Sucessful Appeal, by Mountains Majesty, was purchased for $9,000 at the 2024 TQHA Yearling Sale. Owned by Victor Villarreal, trained by Alex Villarreal, and ridden by Francisco Giles, she earned $1,095 and paid $7.60 to show.
Devins Livewire closed late to finish fourth, followed by Memories of Texas Two in fifth. Wemby ran sixth, with Marys Blue Diamond, Rc Chill Time, Pikin, and Como Chachingas completing the order of finish.
Pari-mutuel payouts included a $1 exacta of 2-7 paying $22.10, a $0.50 trifecta of 2-7-6 returning $89.10, a $0.10 superfecta of 2-7-6-10 worth $137.82, and a $1 daily double of 1-2 paying $74.70.
Offspring of Chilitos impressively swept the top three spots in the TPHBA Maiden Juvenile Stakes, further cementing the stallion’s growing influence in Paint racing.
