Lead Me To The Beach Tops Leader Of The Class Sale Futurity Trials

SHELBYVILLE, IN—AUGUST 25, 2025—Two trials were contested Monday afternoon at Horseshoe Indianapolis to determine the field for the $62,960 Leader Of The Class Sale Futurity, and Lead Me To The Beach posted the fastest qualifying time of the day, securing her spot in the September 11 final.

The 2-year-old daughter of Escondido Beach, out of the Leader Of The Class mare Sheza Classy Leader, covered the 350 yards in 17.816 to win the second trial by a length and a half over Winr Takes All.

Owned by Mark Michel, Tim Pequignot, and Casey Pequignot, Vanessa Fay Wilcox bred the filly in Indiana. She is trained by Claudio Barraza and was ridden to victory by Edgar Diaz.

Lead Me To The Beach went through the 2024 QHRAI Speed Sale ring, where she was a $8,100 RNA. She posted her second win in four starts and has earned $35,380, earning $7,700 in her trial pure.  She was third in the Gordon Mobley Futurity in her last start, July 19.

The second fastest qualifier came from the same heat, as Winr Takes All, a gelding by Eos A Political Win out of Igottagoodee by Agouti, finished a game second with a time of 18.092.

He is owned by Keith Bode and Quarter Shots LLC, bred in Indiana by Roy Moore, trained by German Rodriguez, and was piloted by his regular rider, German Rodriguez. Winless in four starts this season, the gelding was a $20,100 RNA at the 2024 Speed Sale.

Rounding out the top three qualifiers was Heza Classy Cowboy, who captured the opening trial in a determined effort, stopping the clock in 18.164. The colt is by Flying Cowboy 123 out of Sheza Classy Bay by Brookstone Bay.

He is owned by Duke Racing LLC, bred in Indiana by Patrick Easter, conditioned by Anthony Cunningham, and ridden by Luz Daniel Martinez. A two-time winner from four starts this season, Heza Classy Cowboy was a $42,100 RNA at the 2024 Speed Sale. He has earned $26,975.

The 10 fastest qualifiers from the two trials will return on Thursday, September 11, to contest the 350-yard futurity final at Horseshoe Indianapolis. The race carries a total purse of $62,960 and is restricted to 2-year-olds who passed through the 2024 QHRAI Speed Sale.

The Leader Of The Class Sale Futurity Final will precede the 15th annual QHRAI Yearling Speed Sale. Online bidding will begin at 8 a.m. (EDT), Friday, Sept. 12.
