Famous Flyin Cowgirl Edges Rivals in French Quarters Stakes at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—AUGUST 7, 2025— Famous Flyin Cowgirl, a 3-year-old sorrel filly by leading third-crop sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of Famous Numbers Fly by One Famous Eagle, surged late to capture the $35,000 French Quarters Stakes for fillies and mares at Delta Downs by a nose over A Lucky Chilitas.

Ridden by Ricardo Hernandez Jr., the Louisiana-bred filly stopped the timer in 16.847 seconds for the 330 yards, earning a 91 speed index over a fast track with no wind recorded.

The victory was worth $15,000 to owner Raul A. Beltran Moreno and gave trainer Jose Carrizales another stakes score. Bred by Grant Farms LLC, Famous Flyin Cowgirl was purchased for $45,000 at the 2023 Ruidoso Yearling Sale.

She bounced off a third-place effort in her last start, July 4, in the Grade 3 Firecracker Derby at Delta. A four-time winner from 14 starts, Famous Flyin Cowgirl has banked $78,432.

A Lucky Chilitas, a 3-year-old sorrel filly by second-crop sire Chilitos out of Thats Lucky for You by Carters Cartel, closed strongly under Humberto Vital to take second, also earning a 91 speed index.

She is owned by Eva Soto Ugarte, trained by Adrian Huitron, and bred in Texas by Filimon Saucedo. She collected $5,000 for the effort, boosting her earnings to $39,0980 in 11 starts.

India de La Nieve, a 4-year-old gray filly by Bp Wagon Train out of Chita Deniebe by First Streakin Lee, broke sharply to set the pace before being caught late, finishing another nose back in third with a 90 speed index.

Ridden by Eddi Martinez for owner Rene Adan Rodriguez and trainer Luis Martinez Jr., she was bred in Louisiana by Jose G. Vera and Claudia Sanchez and earned $3,850. Second in the restricted Grade 3 Louisiana Champions Day Juvenile at 2, she has earned $128,017.

Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $9.80 to win, $3.80 to place, and $3.40 to show on Famous Flyin Cowgirl; $3.40 to place and $3.80 to show on A Lucky Chilitas; and $6.00 to show on India de La Nieve.
