SHELBYVILLE, IN–AUGUST 7, 2025–Reigning champion Tachas Secret defended her title on Thursday at Horseshoe Indianapolis, capturing the $84,680 Horseshoe Indianapolis Classic Stakes for fillies and mares three years old and up.
The 5-year-old Indiana-bred mare powered through the 400-yard dash in a 19.753 seconds, earning a 97 speed index. The daughter of Habits Secret surged midrace and held strong under jockey Fernando Morin, winning by a half-length over a hard-charging Ap Miss Lunas Tide.

The victory was Tachas Secret's seventh career stakes win and second stakes triumph this season from just three starts. Earlier this year, she took the Bradford Stakes in July and ran third in the Born Runner Classic Stakes on May 31.
With Thursday’s $46,574 win, Tachas Secret pushed her career bankroll to $441,930 and improved her record to 11-5-1 from 22 starts. Owned by Duke Racing LLC and trained by Ricardo Martinez, she was bred in Indiana by Ricardo Martinez. She is out of Sin Tachas Angel, a daughter of PYC Paint Your Wagon.
Runner-up Ap Miss Lunas Tide, a 4-year-old gray filly by Rip Tide, overcame a rough start and rallied impressively along the inside, finishing just a neck ahead of third-place finisher Jess A Riot.
She earned $16,936 for her second-place finish. Ridden by Isidro Banuelos for trainer and owner Oscar Preciado, Ap Miss Lunas Tide was also bred in Indiana by Preciado. She has now earned $81,670 with a record of 4-4-1 from 18 starts. Her dam is Jess Ready Too Wear, by Mr Jess Perry.
Jess A Riot, a 4-year-old bay filly by Jess Zoomin, broke from the outside and showed early speed before settling for third, three-quarters of a length behind the winner. She earned $8,468 for her finish, which marked her fourth stakes appearance this year.
Bred in Indiana by Ted J. Harpold, she is out of Mitey Victoria, by Mighty Invictus. Owned by her breeder and trained by Claudio Barraza, Jess A Riot has compiled a record of 2-4-4 from 13 starts, with $68,154 in earnings.
The remaining order of finish was: Famous Lollipop (fourth), Authentyc (fifth), Its a Ruidoso Weddin (sixth), Sin Tachas Secret (seventh), Terra Fina (eighth), Elegant Train (ninth), and Astronaut (tenth)
