VINTON, LA–JULY 12, 2025–Saturday evening at Delta Downs, Pk Pure Rogue asserted his dominance in Louisiana-bred company with a wire-to-wire victory in the $75,000 Louisiana Classic Stakes (RG2).
Covering 440 yards in 21.854 seconds and earning a 101 speed index, the 5-year-old gelding captured his third stakes win of the 2025 season and sixth overall, adding another credential to an already decorated résumé. Sent off as the heavy favorite, Pk Pure Rogue returned $3.80 to win and banked $45,000 for owners Barraza Brothers and Sons Racing LLC.
Under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo, the bay gelding broke from post five, keeping a slight edge throughout, winning by three-quarters of a length over One Sweet Boss. The win pushes the son of Heza Fast Rogue’s career earnings to $338,135 from 31 starts with a record of 11 wins, 8 seconds, and 4 thirds.

Trained by Guadalupe Tristan and having previously captured the BOCO Overnight Stakes and the Miss Polly Classic Stakes-G3 earlier in the season, his stakes resume from 2024 is equally impressive.
He won three other black-type events: the Opelousas Stakes-G3, Vals Fortune Stakes-G2, and Louisiana Classic Stakes-G2.
Bred in Louisiana by Phatt Kat Ranch and sold for $9,200 at the 2021 LQHBA Yearling Sale, Pk Pure Rogue is out of the Agouti mare Kinky Boots.
One Sweet Boss, a seasoned 7-year-old gelding by One Sweet Jess, gave a strong account of himself while finishing second. Out of the Rakin In the Cash mare Starlight Bess, One Sweet Boss is a two-time graded stakes winner with lifetime earnings of $221,705.
One Sweet Boss is owned and bred by Flying K Ranch LLC and trained by Phillip Calais, Jr. Under jockey Juan Garcia, Jr., he was never far off the leader, dueling throughout before holding second by a head.
Turn The Eagle Lose, a 5-year-old chestnut gelding by One Dashing Eagle, completed the trifecta. Trained by Adalberto Miranda and ridden by Humberto Vital, he was part of the early three-horse duel, maintaining a close third throughout.
Out of A Real Tornado by Streakin La Jolla, the longshot was bred in Louisiana by Narciso Flores, who also owns him. Turn The Eagle Lose was a $27,000 repurchase at the 2021 LQHBA Yearling Sale.
Following the top three finishers were Corona Blue Estrella in fourth, Power by Black in fifth, Lil Too Dirty in sixth, Jess Louisiana Boo in seventh, and Jp Storm Eagle in eighth. Into the Grey was scratched by the stewards.
