VINTON, LA–JULY 12, 2025–One Sweet Tsunami delivered a driving finish to capture the $134,755 Delta Downs Louisiana Oaks, a 400-yard sprint for accredited Louisiana-bred Quarter Horse fillies foaled in 2022.
The three-year-old filly surged clear in the final strides on a fast track under cloudy skies, stopping the clock in 20.224 seconds for a speed index of 87. The race went off with no wind advantage, adding merit to the filly’s powerful effort.

Bred and owned by JBJ Ranch, One Sweet Tsunami is a sorrel daughter of multiple stakes sire One Sweet Jess out of JB Fast Movin Ocean, by Ocean Runaway.
Trained by veteran conditioner Kenneth Roberts, Sr., she was ridden to victory by Jose Rodriguez, who guided her to earn the winner’s share of $70,072. The lightly race filly has won two of five career starts and earned $85,575. The win price returned $11.20, with place and show paying $4.40 and $4.00, respectively.
"This filly had some issues early on, and I cannot say how much I appreciate owner David Jones giving me time to bring her along," champion trainer Roberts said. "I am also very happy that Jose Rodriguez was able to get the win; he had been helping us in the mornings, and I was hoping that he would have success."
Second-place honors went to Jess B Sizzlin, who made a strong late surge to edge into the runner-up spot. The bay filly, trained by Jose Espinosa for AGMD Investments LLC, was piloted by Noe Castaneda. She is by world champion sire Freighttrain B out of Ja Jess Sizzlin, by Mr Jess Perry, and was bred by Kenneth Garcia. Jess B Sizzlin increased her earnings to nearly $60,000 after picking up $23,825 for her connections. She was originally purchased for $28,000 at the 2023 LQHBA Yearling Sale.
Third went to Rf Gold Heart Duck, who overcame a rough trip, gamely finishing to secure the show spot under Leonardo Rodriguez for trainer Kenneth Roberts, Sr. The sorrel filly is by second-crop sire Gold Heart Eagle V out of Miss Delta Duck, by Fly Jess Fly, bred by Rogers Farm/Tim and Jennie Rogers.
Owned by Rogers Farm, she picked up $14,014 for her efforts and was an RNA at the 2023 LQHBA Yearling Sale at $75,000. She doubled her earnings total to $28,414 .
The exacta combination of One Sweet Tsunami and Jess B Sizzlin paid $30.90. The trifecta with Rf Gold Heart Duck returned $134.25, while the superfecta, completed by Rf Imperial Choice, was worth $94.20. The Daily Double returned $19.60, and the Pick 3 paid $56.50.
Completing the order of finish were Rf Imperial Choice in fourth, Golden Answerr fifth, Ace Fortunes N Eagle sixth, Tdz Apollitical Mom seventh, and Rf Fast Dash N Train eighth.
