JEROME, ID—JUNE 1, 2025—Two-year-olds took center stage Sunday at the Jerome Fairgrounds, where a pair of 350-yard trials determined the field for the $25,000-est. Roche Equine QH Futurity final, set for June 15.

Emperador Moctezuma, a gelding by Concorde’s Appeal (TB) out of Sheza Lolita by Tell Him Twice, delivered a powerful gate-to-wire effort in the first heat, stopping the clock in :18.310 to earn the fastest qualifying time of the day.

Owned by L. Uriel Arreola and trained by Ramiro Fregoso, the Idaho-bred was ridden to victory in his career debut by Oscar Villa.

Bred by Pablo Diaz, Emperador Moctezuma held off a game bid from Tempted To Send to win by three-quarters of a length and secure his spot atop the leaderboard heading into the final.

In the second trial, Redmann, a gelding by Red Oak Special out of She Forged It by Forged, matched the second-fastest time of the day with a :18.410 clocking in a clear trial win.

Trained by Ramero Honer and ridden by Raphael Romero, Redmann races for owner Bryan Romero, who also guided the gelding’s development in Idaho alongside breeders Jolynn Wheeler and Cinda Thomas.

Redmann was never threatened in his heat, finishing with daylight between himself and the rest of the field to earn the second-highest qualifying time for the final. It was the first career win for the gelding who was seventh in the Idaho Cup Futurity in his last start May 25 at Pocatello Downs.

Eight juveniles advanced to the June 15 final, contested over 350 yards.
