GILLETTE, WY–JUNE 1, 2025–Three-year-old filly Pyc Gloria stepped up in class and age division to earn her first career stakes win in Sunday’s $43,000 Ron Cook Memorial Stakes at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing, defeating a pair of older rivals in a sharp :17.708 seconds into a 18 mph headwind for 350 yards over a fast track.
Owned and bred in Utah by Miguel Zavala Lopez, Pyc Gloria is trained by Adrian Zavala and was ridden to victory by Martin Arana.
The daughter of leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon out of the Giorgino mare Giorgina surged late to win by three-quarters of a length, collecting the winner’s share of $21,500.
It marked a breakthrough for the filly, who was facing both older competition and stakes company for the first time, scored her first victory in three starts.

Finishing second was fellow 3-year-old filly Absolut Cartel, who also made a strong account of herself under Jockey Jesus Valenzuela. Trained by Kylie Valenzuela, she is owned by Kylie and Lindsay Aguirre Valenzuela and Duane James Lindley, and was bred in Idaho by G. Blattner and L & K Schoonover.
The Carters Cartel filly, out of the Ketel Won mare Absolut Pride, earned $6,450 for the runner-up effort. A non-winner from six starts, she has banked $13,667.
Third went to the Louisiana-bred Perrys Jambalaya, a 4-year-old sorrel filly by Louisiana Jambalaya out of Perry Patriotic by Heza Fast Dash, who was bred by Spring Hill Farms LLC.
Owned by Eduardo Gandara Perez, she is trained by Benjamin Villegas and was ridden by Valente Vorrath. Perrys Jambalaya earned $3,655 for her third-place finish, finishing just a nose behind Absolut Cartel.
Margins at the wire were ¾ lengths, ¾ lengths, and a nose, as all three fillies battled gamely through the stretch in the early-season feature.
Sizzle Me Perry, Favorite Bridge, Yo My Illusive Dream, Brindis Thrasher and Bds Dailey An Eagle completed the field.
The Ron Cook Memorial annually honors the late Wyoming horseman and is a cornerstone stakes for the region’s early meet at Energy Downs.
