Apollitical Muse Wins The Heritage Place Oaks in a Minor Upset

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–MAY 31, 2025–Apollitical Muse tapped her toes and took off out of the gates, delivering a determined gate-to-wire finish in the $300,900 Heritage Place Oaks-G2 at Remington Park on Saturday. The victory marks her third consecutive win this season.

Prevailing by a head in a blanket finish against some of the nation’s top three-year-old fillies, Apollitical Muse stopped the clock in 19.398 seconds, recording a 102 speed index. The daughter of world champion sire Apollitical Jess pulled off the upset at 11-1 odds, paying $25.40 for the win.

Apollitical Muse, piloted by jockey Roman Cruz, earned $126,378 for the 400-yard win. The prize money boosted her bankroll to $258,560 and improved her race record to 6-2-1 from 14 starts. Trained by Jed Vane, she won the Remington Park Oaks earlier in the season after placing a troubled sixth in the Oklahoma Derby-G3.

Ranch El Cabresto Inc. bred Apollitical Muse in Oklahoma out of Bp Shes Southern, by Southern Cartel. She is a full sister to stakes winner Apollitical J Wild and from the family of champion Cers Final Try. Owner Gregory Cullum purchased her for $55,000 at the 2023 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

Finishing a game second was Rainbow of Diamonds under the guidance of jockey Francisco Calderon. Trainer Victor Rodriguez-Flores saddled the Oklahoma-bred filly by Apollitical Blood for owner Valeriano Racing Stables LLC.

Rainbow Of Diamonds earned $51,153 for the close runner-up finish, increasing her bankroll to $130,046. She has a record of 4-1-2 from ten starts and was a finalist in last year’s Heritage Place Futurity-G1.

Bred by Danny Jo Miller out of Cc Seis by Tres Seis Rainbow Diamonds sold for $22,000 at the 2023 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale.

Rounding out the top three was Dk Marney Jess, a bay filly by Apollitical Jess out of Marney Jo, by Corona Cartel. Bred in Mexico by Cuadra La Presita, she races for CH Horse Racing, LLC. Al Watson trains the filly, who was ridden by Nestor Duran and took home $36,108 for third.

Dk Marney Jess has lit the board nine of 11 starts with eight wins and $55,063 in earnings. She won the Sam Houston Futurity-G2 and the Louisiana Downs Futurity-G2 in her freshman campaign.

The remaining finish orders are Bold N Beautiful, Js Freightrain, Sheza Fearless Eagle, Catchn Southern Rays, Candy Flood, Flying Bandida, and Jo Cash Run.
