Dezigner Jeanz Takes Advantage of Fancee Chik Missing Break For Minor Upset Remington Allowance

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—MAY 29, 2025—When the prohibitive 7-5 favorite, Im a Fancee Chik, failed to break from the gate in the featured allowance race Thursday night at Remington Park, it opened the floodgates for the rest of the field. Dezigner Jeanz burst through those gates to pick up her fourth win in nine tries at Remington Park.

Im a Fancee Chik broke dead last in the field of seven as the top money earner in the field with $375,227 in her bankroll, she remained last the entire race.

Dezigner Jeanz was the one who broke poorly in her last race, finishing seventh, but on this night, the 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred mare made up for her poor previous outing, breaking second. She eventually blew past Nay Borhood Nipsey (13-1) to win at the wire by a head.

Dezigner Jeanz, a daughter of Mr Jess Perry, out of the Corona Cartel mare All N the Jeans, was sent off at 5-1 odds and paid $12.40 to win, $5.20 to place and $3.80 to show. She covered the 330 yards in :16.419 seconds, earning a 102 speed index. Nay Borhood Nipsey also broke the 100-mark at 101.

Jockey Ali Rivera booted the Dezigner Jeanz home, getting her nose to the wire in a head-bob with the runner-up, who was another neck in front of third-place finisher Paint Me Difference (21-1). The 5-2 second favorite on the toteboard, Paige, was a disappointing fourth, another neck back.

Dezigner Jeanz also won for the fourth time in five tries at the 330-yard distance for trainer John Stinebaugh. She pocketed $19,800 for owner Pete A. Scarmardo of Caldwell, Texas.

This trip to the winner’s circle improved the mare’s lifetime record to 18 starts, eight wins, two seconds and three thirds for a bankroll of $182,593. She was purchased for $55,000 at the Heritage Place September Yearling Sale in Oklahoma City in 2022. Bobby Cox bred Dezigner Jeanz.

The winner showed signs of brilliance as a 2-year-old in 2023, winning the Remington Park Juvenile Stakes here and then moving on to Ruidoso Downs in New Mexico, where she won a Ruidoso Futurity trial, Rainbow Futurity trial and running second in an All American Futurity trial. Despite those huge efforts, Dezigner Jeanz never ran in the finals there. She went on to run second in the Grade 2 Evangeline Downs Futurity in Louisiana.

Since maturing into an older mare, one of Dezigner Jeanz best tries at Remington Park came this year when she finished third in the Grade 2 Decketta Stakes on March 15, behind Curls Joyful Wagon and First Time for Wine. It was after that stakes-placed run that she threw in the clunker last time out.

Remington Park racing continues Friday and Saturday, May 30 & 31. The first race Friday is at 6pm. The season finale is on Saturday when Champions Night begins at 5pm. All times are Central.
