POCATELLO, ID—MAY 25, 2025—In just her second career start, Rtm Hot Milk proved she belongs among the top juveniles in Idaho, delivering a front-running victory in Sunday’s $45,549 Idaho Cup Futurity at Pocatello Downs.
The gray filly by leading sire Kiss My Hocks held on gamely to win by a neck, stopping the clock in 15.611 for 300 yards on a fast track. The blanket finish from the winner to last place was won the closest in history for the race.
Bred in Idaho by Susan T. Hanson and owned by RTM Stables LLC, Rtm Hot Milk is trained by Mark Hanson and was ridden to victory by Jose Figueroa. The filly out of Rtm Say Your Prayers, by Chickie Cherry Cola, broke sharply from post 3 and never looked back, holding off all challengers to earn the $18,220 winner’s share.
Starting off a trial victory in her career debut on May 3, she has banked $19,120 with a perfect 2-for-2 record.
Close on her heels was Bobs Speedysaintjess, a sorrel gelding by Jess Got Easier out of Sp Saint Patty, by Saint Shackleton. Owned by Mike McKell, the game runner-up was trained by Sergio Canales and ridden by Jesus Canales.
Bobs Speedysaintjess crossed the wire just a neck behind the winner and earned $9,110 for the effort. Bobs He was bred in Idaho by R.L. Harrison.
Finishing third was M E Kool Carter, a 13-1 longshot who turned in a strong showing from the outside post. The brown gelding by Carters Cartel out of Kool Sweet Jess, by One Sweet Jess, was bred in Idaho by David Merritt and Kim Newman, who also race the gelding.
He was trained by Jarrett Mills and piloted by Fernando Olague, completing the trifecta in :15.707 to earn $4,555.
The remainder of the field finished 4th – Ojd Steaming Train,, 5th – Juanvaljess, 6th – Cartell Prince, 7th – Redmann, 8th – Hes Pullin Gs and, 9th – M E Dulce This. Bw Jess de Stuff, was scratched.
The race was run under clear skies and 75-degree weather, with no wind and a good start for all nine entrants.
Rtm Hot Milk’s wire-to-wire win marked her second consecutive victory, both at Pocatello Downs, as she continues to show early promise in the 2-year-old division.
