VINTON, LA–MAY 23, 2025–Marcy Train B upset a competitive field Friday night in the $243,625 Lassie Futurity at Delta Downs, delivering a tenacious effort to win by a neck and return $23.80 on a $2 win ticket.

Sent off at 10-1 odds, the Louisiana-bred filly turned in a career-best performance in the 330-yard race for 2-year-old fillies, stopping the clock in 16.889 seconds over a fast track.

Ridden by jockey Jorge Garcia, Marcy Train B entered the final off a sharp trial win that marked her first career victory and made her the second-fastest qualifier for the final. With Friday’s $121,812 stakes win, she now boasts two wins from four starts and earnings of $129,072.

Out of Jessbye Marcy, by Mr Jess Perry, Marcy Train B was bred by Grant Farms LLC and purchased for $41,000 at the LQHBA Yearling Sale. Her dam is a full sister to G2 winner and New Track Record setter Big Dashing Perry. She is from the family of Champion First To Flash.

Mamma Im Leaving You gave chase and finished three-quarters of a length back in second. The bay filly by Coronas Leaving You out of Mamma Jamma Jamma, by Apollitical Jess, was bred by Wiggins Acres LLC and is owned by Jeantile Deville.

From four career starts, she now has one win and two seconds, including a runner-up finish in the Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity earlier this season. Trained by Jose Espinosa and ridden by Manuel Gutierrez, her career earnings climbed to $115,464 with Friday's effort, which paid $9.00 to place and $5.40 to show.

The race favorite, Lm Ms Apollitical, had to settle for third after being outkicked late. The filly by Apollitical Blood broke her maiden in the trials with the fastest qualifying time, entering the final as the top contender.

Out of Ur Louisiana Blue, by Jess Louisiana Blue, she was bred and is owned by Luis Rosales Martinez Jr. Francisco Bernal trained her, and jockey Ubaldo Luna was in the saddle. Though she couldn’t match her trial performance, Lm Ms Apollitical held on for third, finishing a half-length behind the runner-up. The $33,000 LQHBA Yearling Sale graduate now has $30,362 in earnings.

Delta Downs continues its Quarter Horse meet on Saturday night, May 24, with a full card of racing highlighted by the $ 268,895 Louisiana Laddie Futurity (RG2). The 330-yard finale combines the fastest qualifiers from the May trials, including standouts Rf Fast Dash N Blood, Gold Hearted Policy, and Joncades Fly By.

The Futurity promises to deliver high drama as top juvenile colts and geldings vie for one of the richest purses of the season.
