Pyc Gloria Top Qualifier From Ron Cook Memorial Maiden Stakes Trials on Sunday

GILLETTE, WY–MAY 18, 2025–In an impressive display in the day's opening trial, Pyc Gloria broke her maiden on Sunday at Energy Downs 307 Racing, recording the fastest time among four trials held for the Ron Cook Memorial Maiden Stakes (not black type).

Guided by jockey Minor Arana, Pyc Gloria secured a half-length victory over Bds Daily An Eagle, clocking 18.084 seconds for 350 yards. This performance not only marked the day’s fastest time but also achieved an 85 speed index against an 18 mph headwind.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return to Energy Downs 307 Racing on Sunday, June 1, to compete for a share of a $25,000-added purse.

Trained by Adrian Zavala, the Utah-bred filly is a daughter of the leading sire Pyc Paint Your Wagon. This was her third career start; last season, she finished second in a trial for the Hadley Giles Futurity before having a troubled experience in an Invitational Handicap at Weber Downs.

Owned and bred by Miguel Zavala, from the Giorgino mare Giorgina, Pyc Gloria has earned $3,400 in her brief racing career.

The runner-up, Bds Daily An Eagle, posted the second-fastest time of 18.148 seconds, earning an 83 speed index. Trainer Skyler Greene enlisted jockey Victor Felipe Dominguez for the Wyoming homebred’s first career start for owner-breeder BDS Performance Horses. Bds Daily An Eagle is out of the Zoomin For Bux mare Girls Love Bux.
