OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 19, 2025—In a strong finish under jockey Mario Delgado, 23-1 Shy Kisser got his head in from the Hooked N Gone to win the restricted Grade 1 $100,000 Dee Raper Sooner State Stakes for 3-year-old and up state-breds at Remington Park Saturday.

Conditioned by the trainer Juvenal Licona-Vazquez, Shy Kisser completed the 400 yards in 19.574 seconds, equaling a 96 speed index on a sloppy (sealed) track with a 15 mph tailwind.

Racing for owner Leobardo Auginaga Soria, the Texas-bred daughter of leading sire Kiss My Hocks got her fourth win in 25 starts. Bred by Paul Tonderum from the Streakin La Jolla mare Shyann La Jolla, Shy Kisser earned $57,600 to increase her earnings to $243.534.

Entering the race off a seventh-place allowance finish in her only start this season, Shy Kiss returned $47.80 to win, $27.80 to place, and $7.40 to show.

Graded stakes winner Hooked N Gone earned $19,200 for his second-place effort under jockey Rolando Raudales. Victor Ibarra trains the son of Pyc Paint Your Wagon for owner-breeder Regina Laymon. Bred from the Pretty Boy Perry mare Pretty Girl Kate, Hooked N Gone has earned $589,523.

Lucky Luke, under jockey David Alvarez, Jr., finished half a length back to earn $10,560 for third. Trainer Juvenal Licona-Vazquez saddled the Coronado Cartel gelding for owner Omar Hernandez. Reliance Ranches, LLC bred Lucky Luke from the Mr Jess Perry mare Bling Dynasty.

One Stolin Eagle, Paint Your Lips P, Cardiac Cowboy, Rare Roy, and Rgs Gold Wagon completed the field. Post-time favorite Rgs Gold Wagon leaped at the start and did not have a chance.
