OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 17, 2025–Thirty-five juvenile paint horses were entered in four trials on Thursday for a spot in the $120,800 PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity [G1] at Remington Park. Five of the ten fastest qualifiers came from trainer Matt Whitekiller's stables, who entered 11 contenders, including the fastest Pretty Lil Poison.
Whitekiller bred and owns Pretty Lil Poison, who clocked an 85 speed index against a 21 mph headwind in 16.932 seconds from trial four. She was the only paint to break the 17 second mark from the trials. Piloted by Francisco Calderon, the daughter of APHA world champion Painted Turnpike, motored clear from gate to wire, finishing 1 1/4-lengths ahead of stablemate Turnpike Jammer.
Pretty Lil Poison achieved her first victory from three career starts. She recently finished third in the Oklahoma Paint Futurity [G1], behind Turbulent, who was the favorite to win but placed fourth in tonight’s trial. The 330-yard slight upset paid $14.00 to win on 6-1 odds.
The $3,300 payday boosted Pretty Lil Poison’s earnings to $28,148. The Oklahoma homebred filly is out of Miss Fly On Tac by Tac It Like A Man.
Whitekiller also conditions the second fastest qualifier, Kj All Of The Marbles, who won the first trial of the night, clocking an 81 speed index in 17.079 seconds. Ridden by Cordarelton Benn, the Texas-bred colt defeated Pt Got A Filly by a length, and the winning effort paid $11.80 on 9-2 odds.
Kj All Al The Marbles’ victory marked his first from two starts, and he has $5,121 in the bank. The Dan and Kay Jones homebred is a son of leading APHA sire CRM Livewire out of Prp Sedona Sunset by Awesome Chrome.
All ten qualifiers are by either Painted Turnpike, who is the sire of six finalists or CRM Livewire, with four. While Whitekiller qualified the most with five horses, trainer Dee Keener qualified three juveniles returning to the finals.
Turbulent, who was undefeated before tonight, will still have the most impressive record, moving to three starts, with two wins and a bankroll of $87,368.
