OGDEN, UT–APRIL 5, 2025–Thirty-eight juveniles competed in six trials on Saturday afternoon at Weber Downs for a spot in the $95,866 Beehive Futurity. The ten top two-year-olds are set to return for the finals on April 27th.
With a five mph tailwind, Jr Calender Girl set the time to beat from trial four, clocking a 101-speed index in 15.445 seconds. The daughter of leading first-year-sire Dulce Sin Tacha, ridden by Jesus Valenzuela, wouldn’t be denied, defeating Hez Gifted by nearly two lengths.

The 300-yard trial victory was Jr Calender Girl’s first career start for owner-breeder J R Stables of Nevada. Kylie Valenzuela trains the sorrel filly out of Forty Carat Eagly by One Famous Eagle.
Fire In The Whole, ridden by Jesus Canales, won the third trial from gate to wire by 1 1/2-lengths. The gray filly clocked a 98-speed index in 15.516 seconds.
Trained by Sergio Canales, the daughter of leading sire Kvn Corona earned her first career. McColee Land & Livestock LLC bred Fire In The Whole in Utah out of Separate Fire by Walk Thru Fire.
Jockey Jesus Valenzuela was aboard two horses who qualified to the Futurity finals, while Jesus Canales will have his choice from four different mounts.
