SUNLAND PARK, NM–APRIL 5, 2025–Trainer Tony Sedillo gets his third consecutive victory today at Sunland Park with Fire Powwer in the $50,000 New Mexican Spring Fling Stakes. Sedillo won the previous race, the NMHBA Stakes, with Woody Rocks.

It came down to the wire, but Fire Powwer, piloted by Luis Martinez, held off the competition for his first career win from two starts. With a 13 mph crosswind, the son of Big Daddy Cartel clocked an 85-speed index in 15.417 seconds, defeating Jingle Wood and Norvina.

Jingle Wood ran side by side with Fire Powwer closing well but just missed for second. After a slow start, post-time favorite Norvina crossed the wire in third, nearly two lengths behind the duo.
