Di Kvn Waven Proves Fastest In The Louisiana Downs Futurity [G2]

BOSSIER CITY, LA–MARCH 29, 2025–Fastest qualifier from the trials, Di Kvn Waven, doesn’t miss a beat after winning the $346,566 Louisiana Downs Futurity [G2] finals on Saturday at Louisiana Downs.

Qualifying jockey Oliver Martinez was aboard the powerful little filly for the 300-yard victory. Di Kvn Waven busted from the gates and led the entire trip, clocking a 103-speed index with a ten mph headwind in 15.351 seconds. The post-time favorite’s effort paid $7.20 to win.

Di Kvn Waven’s $155,955 winner’s share of the purse boosted her earnings to $158,955 and she remains undefeated from two starts.

The daughter of leading sire Kvn Corona is a $24,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate owned by Alvarado Refugio. Jacobo Garza bred Di Kvn Waven in Texas out of the Mr Piloto mare Waven Bye Piloto. Her second dam is a half-sister to Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity winner and leading sire Bodacious Dash.  

Eagle On a June Bug, ridden by H. Hernandez, was clearly second best after crossing the wire on the tail of Di Kvn Waven 1/2 a length back. Trainer Victor Oviedo saddled the son of leading first-year sire Eagles Fly Higher for owners Sergio Jimenez and Enrique Santollo. He has one win from two starts and $61,916 in the bank.

Robert Moudy bred Eagle On A June Bug in Texas out of the Blushing Bug mare Sandy June Bug. The $20,000 TQHA Yearling Sale is from the family of Champion Astica and multiple graded stakes winners.

San Vandido, piloted by Gilberto Linares, was best of the rest for third. Trainer Jose Sanchez conditions the son of San Lorenzo for owner-breeder Omar Arriaga. He has one win from two starts and $37,657 in earnings. His dam is Roma by Ivan James.

Coronados Imagine, Shot Of Takillya, She The Ceo, Famous Tequila, Mf Tha Second Coming, Suspicious Eyes, and Toxic Dynasty round out the order of finish.
