OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 19, 2024–Jockey Bryan Candanosa pushed all the right buttons to get Forgotten to the wire first in the 330-yard allowance race on Friday night in the feature.

Forgotten, a 3-year-old filly by Apollitical Jess, out of the Corona Cartel mare Corona Mas Fina, was in a battle to the wire with two other horses and prevailed in the end. Queen Records, the beaten 2-1 favorite, and Preyin and Dashin (9-2) pushed the winner to her limits but never could get past her at the wire.

Forgotten went off at 6-1 odds and paid $14.60 to win, $7.20 to place and $5 to show. She finished a nose ahead of Queen Records, the runner-up, who was another half-length in front of Preyin and Dashin. The winner stopped the timer in :16.711 on the fast track for a speed-index of 92.

Trainer Jed Vane had Forgotten prepped and ready for this, the second win of her career after she had broken her maiden at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Oct. 21 last fall. She earned $12,330 from the $22,350 purse and improved her career marks to six starts, two wins and two thirds for earnings of $24,800. She was a $35,000 purchase at the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale early this year.

Forgotten was bred in California by Elena Andrade and Steve Burns, DVM.

Race 8 Declared No Contest After Gates Failed To Open Simultaneously

Race eight on Friday night was declared a “No Contest” by the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission Stewards. The No Contest decision came down after the starting gate did not open all of the doors simultaneously to allow a fair release of the horses.

All wagers on race eight were refunded with the exception of the multi-race wagers. The Pick 3 that ended with race eight paid out as 2-10-ALL, paying everyone who had the 2 in the sixth race and the 10 in the seventh race, with All in a payout of $5.85.

The Pick 3 that paid at the end of race nine paid out as 10-ALL-7 and returned $23.

The Last Chance Pick 3 that began with the no-contest eighth race paid out as ALL-7-9 and returned $24.50.

The late Pick 4, races 7-10, paid out as 10-ALL-7-9 and returned $123.10.
