ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 20, 2020—In just her second career start Blazinberryberryfast broke her maiden with a neck win over Surfz Up in the $50,000 New Mexico State Fair QH Juvenile Sunday afternoon at The Downs at Albuquerque.
Under jockey Jesse Levario the daughter of multiple graded winner Osbaldo completed the 350 yards in :17.795, equaling a 87 speed index.
Ivan Tafoya trains the bay filly for owner Vicente Solis Grajeda. Hubaldo Solis bred Blazinberryberryfast from the Strawflyin Buds mare Strawberryberryfast. She earned $30,000 for the effort.
Surfz Up, a daughter of first-crop sire Corona Surfer, picked up $10,000 for her second-place effort. Sergio Ibarra saddled the brown filly for owner Guadalupe Cortez. Bred by Debra Laney, Surfz Up is out of the First Moonflash mare Mitey Moon. Surfz Up has placed in two of four starts this year and earned $40,121.
