Okies Cc Breaks Maiden Status In $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile

Okies Cc Breaks Maiden Status In $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 24, 2016—The richest race on Sunday at Remington Park was the $100,000 Remington Park Juvenile for 2-year-old Oklahoma-breds who competed in trials for the Remington Park Futurity but did not reach the final. Okies CC took advantage of the big-money opportunity to score the hefty paycheck while also winning her first career race.

Owned by Joel Rod Pierce of Sallisaw, Okla. and trained by Jerry Ingels, Okies CC was ridden by Omar Reyes. The 2-year-old Oklahoma-bred filly posted the upset from her outside post position in the field of nine at 330 yards. Okies CC battled with Darker Tint throughout the course, winning the bob at the finish line by a nose in :17.343 seconds over the fast track. Peves Freddy B was another half-length behind in third.

Away at 16-1 odds in the betting, Okies CC paid $34.60 to win, $13.20 to place and $6.20 to show. Darker Tint was the 6-5 wagering favorite, paying $3.80 to place and $2.80 to show. Peves Freddy B paid $3.40 to show.

Breaking her maiden status in her third career attempt, Okies CC was bred in by Steve Holt. She is a daughter of Carters Cartel from the Okey Dokey Dale mare Chase This Okie. The winner’s share for the Juvenile was $40,820 and moved Okies CC career money to $43,874.

Darker Tint races for owner Palomino Trucking, Inc. and trainer Ruben Soto. Vaughn and Jill Cook bred the Pyc Paint Your Wagon colt from the Dash To Chivato mare Just Wanna Be Me. Ridden by Jose Vega Darker Tint earned $17,350 to bring his three-race total to $37,928.

Clinton Crawford saddled Peves Freddy B for owner/breeder Gordon Pevehouse. Ivan Carnero had the riding call aboard the Streak N Dash 2-year-old out of Ima Lazie Too, by Okey Dokey Dale. The $11,230 third place check boosted his total earning mark to $20,622.

Mh Ground Control, Corona Act On Fire V, Signs First Corona, Barue, Streakin Folly and Eyema Candy Cartel completed the field.

Victoria Ennis Memorial

Oklahoma-bred 2-year-old Paints and Appaloosas had their stakes chance on Sunday in the $22,500 Victoria Ennis Memorial. KC Texas Lady used a solid start to take the immediate lead in the race, managing to hold on to win by a nose.

Owned by Wade and Charles Leggett of Muskogee, Okla. and trained by Dee Keener, KC Texas Lady was ridden by Cody Jensen. She covered the 330 yards in :17.325 seconds. Cherry Cobbler rallied to finish a close second with I Hear Banjos another 1-1/4 lengths behind in third place.

At 7-1 odds in the betting, KC Texas Lady paid $16 to win, $5.60 to place and $4.20 to show. Cherry Cobbler returned $3.80 to place and $3.20 to show. I Hear Banjos paid $5.20 to show. Cl Trap Queen was the wagering favorite at 8-5 odds but was never in the race, running eighth and last.

The victory was the second from four starts this season for KC Texas Lady, a Paint filly by Texas Six from the SF Royal Quick Flash mare Kaywantsafastone. She was bred in Oklahoma by Kay Churchwell. KC Texas Lady made $13,338 to increase her total bankroll to $21,664.

The Victoria Ennis Memorial is named in honor of the Oklahoman who was a member of the Appaloosa Horse Club Hall of Fame and was a prominent breeder and owner for many years before her passing in 2009. The Remington Park season continues Thursday thru Sunday, April 28-May 1. The American Paint Classic Futurity is the main event of the weekend on Saturday night. The first race nightly is at 6pm with Sunday racing at 1:30pm.

Llano Cartel Takes Another Blink of an Eye Allowance

Multiple graded stakes winner Llano Cartel won the final race on Sunday, the $31,000 "Blink of an Eye" 110-yard Allowance for 3 –year-old and older horses.

Owned by Wade Helton and trained by Fernando Carrete, the 6-year-old son of Teller Cartel completed the distance in a quick :6.74 seconds, a 106 speed index into an 18 mph headwind.

The winner's purse of $21,188 boosted Llano Teller's earnings total to $437,484. His record stands at (46) 15-8-2.

Wootan Racing bred the brown gelding in Oklahoma from the Lil Bit Cuervo mare Eyesa Lil Cuervo. He also won the 2014 edition of the "Blink of an Eye" at Remington Park.

Load Your Guns finished a head back for second and Bv Jesse James was a nose behind for the show ticket.
