OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JUNE 2, 2013—The 2013 Remington Park American Quarter Horse & Mixed-Breed Season came to a close Sunday afternoon with a final 12-race program. The closing race was the Grade 3, $53,500 Remington Park Distance Handicap, going to Docs Dusty Okie in a 9-1 upset.

Owned by Dusty Rose Ranch of Oklahoma City and trained by Cristino Estrada, Docs Dusty Okie hit the finish-line 3/4 lengths in front of Wahoo. Emperor Valerian was along the rail, picking up third, another three-quarters of a length behind the runner-up.

Docs Dusty Okie, carrying 124 pounds, took the lead away from pace-setting Saritas Blueboy with 220 yards remaining. The 6-year-old gelding had too much remaining late in the stretch for the others to cut into his advantage. Under jockey Randy Wilson, Docs Dusty Okie covered the 870 yards around the turn in a quick time of :44.639 seconds over a fast track.
