Chilitos Continues To Make History With Record-Setting Runners

WYNNEWOOD, OK–AUGUST 7, 2026–Third-year sire Chilitos continues to make his presence known, with his runners rewriting the record books through historic trial times and new track records. The leading sire is double registered AQHA/APHA, and his foals are making noise in both arenas.

His latest headline came Friday at The Downs at Albuquerque, where Chile Gato delivered a breakout performance on the opening day of trials for the Grade 1, $3 million All American Futurity, the world's richest Quarter Horse race.

Making his first official Quarter Horse start, Chile Gato dominated the eighth of 14 trials, breaking well under champion jockey Francisco Calderon before drawing clear to defeat Grade 1-placed Ask Her To Fly by 1 1/4 lengths.

Chile Gato stopped the clock in :20.911, earning a 102 speed index and posting the fastest qualifying time of the day. More importantly, the performance established the fastest All American Futurity trial time in history, breaking a record that had stood for 19 years.

Four-time champion Heartswideopen had held the mark since 2007, when she clocked :20.921 during the All American Futurity trials.

The connection between the two record-setting performances runs even deeper.

Chile Gato's third dam is Dashing Phoebe, the dam of Heartswideopen. The champion daughter of Dash For Cash now appears in the pedigree behind two generations responsible for the fastest All American Futurity trial performances nearly two decades apart.

Owned and bred in Texas by Omar Paredes, Chile Gato is trained by Jed Vane and was ridden by Calderon. The sorrel colt is out of Famous Phoebe, by Dash Ta Fame.

Chile Gato had made one previous start against Paints at Remington Park in April. Friday's victory marked his first Quarter Horse win and earned him $5,800.

The five fastest qualifiers from Friday's 14 trials earned berths in the September 7 All American Futurity final. Another 14 trials on Saturday will determine the remaining five finalists, with $1.5 million awaiting the winner on Labor Day.

Chile Gato is only the latest Chilitos runner to put his name in the record books.

APHA World Champion Jc Speeding and Jackson Davis 747 have also established new track records, with Jc Speeding setting a mark at Remington Park and Jackson Davis 747 doing the same at Lone Star Park.

The numbers behind Chilitos continue to build. He has sired nearly $5 million in progeny earnings, with 35 black-type horses and 18 stakes winners. Eleven of his runners have earned more than $100,000, while his starters average more than $27,000 in earnings.

His leading performers include Holy Guacamolee SI 102 ($444,393), Jc Speeding SI 99 ($372,678), Ima Chili SI 105 ($241,561), Full Moon Desire SI 100 ($236,623), and Reletless Politics SI 92 ($205,560).

Chilitos has led the sire rankings with every crop to race, and the demand is following his success on the racetrack. His foals are averaging nearly $43,000 at the 2026 sales to date.

From record-setting runners to the sales ring, Chilitos continues to deliver. Watch for the next Chilitos to step into the ring at the upcoming summer sales.
