Kj Mucho Macho Man Sires Contenders For Delta Downs' Richest Season-Ending Events

VINTON, LA—JUNE 27, 2026—As Delta Downs prepares for the final two weeks of its 2026 Quarter Horse meet, leading third-crop sire Kj Mucho Macho Man has positioned himself squarely in the spotlight with multiple qualifiers headed to five of the track's premier races—the $602,705 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1), $75,000 Louisiana Juvenile Stakes, $270,810 Firecracker Futurity (G2), $149,670 Firecracker Derby(G3), and the $113,427 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks.

The son of leading sire Apollitical Jess continues to dominate the sire ranks. Through June 26, Kj Mucho Macho Man is the nation's leading third-crop sire of money earners, with 76 starters, 23 winners, and earnings of $762,758. He also ranks among the Top 16 overall Leading Sires in North America and is listed among the industry's Leading 2-year-old sires, underscoring the depth and versatility of his current crop.

Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1)
Kj Mucho Macho Man will be represented by three qualifiers in the richest race of the Delta Downs meet, the $602,705 Lee Berwick Futurity (RG1) for Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds at 350 yards. The final is scheduled for July 11.

Fastest among his qualifiers was KJ Meduzza, who recorded the second-fastest overall qualifying time of 17.603. The gelding is out of Meduzza by Ragazzo and races for J.A. Racing LLC. He was bred in Louisiana by Ruse Ranch LLC, trained by Miguel Pizana, and was ridden in the trials by Nestor Duran. He was a $20,000 repurchase in the LQHBA Yearling Sale.

A finalist in the restricted Grade 2 Mardi Gras Futurity and runner-up in the Lassie Juvenile Stakes, he has banked $46,284 in five starts.

Man For Cos secured the third-fastest qualifying mark of 17.636. The gelding, from the Tee Cos mare Just For Cos, is owned and bred by Ruse Ranch LLC, trained by Jose A. Garcia, and ridden by Jorge Javier Garcia. Winner of three of four starts, his only off-the-board performance was a troubled effort in the Louisiana Bred Laddie Futurity(RG2). The $6,500 LQHBA Yearling Sale repurchase has earned $23,759.

Also advancing was Mucho Traffic, who stopped the clock in :17.727. The gelding is out of Cosmo Traffic by Cosmograph and races for Juan Luna Jimenez. Also bred by Ruse Ranch LLC, he is conditioned by Andre Brooks and was piloted by Leonardo Rodriguez. The $17,200 earner broke his maiden in the trials while posting an impressive 1 1/4-length victory.

Louisiana Juvenile Stakes

The sire will also have two representatives in the $75,000 Louisiana Juvenile Stakes for accredited Louisiana-bred 2-year-olds, also contested at 350 yards on July 11.

Mucho Man Shortstop posted the second-fastest qualifying time of 17.883. The Kj Mucho Man filly, out of Shortstop Express by Freighttrain B, is owned and bred by Ruse Ranch LLC. She is trained by Gregorio Davila and was ridden by Claudio Ponce Aguilar. The $9,500 LQHBA Yearling repurchase was third in the Lassie Futurity(RG2) and fourth in the Mardi Gras Futurity(RG2), earning $68,101 in five starts this season.

Qualifying eighth was Mucho Man Route, a filly from the Corona Cartel mare En Route. She recorded a time of 17.957 while racing for MTZ and Ruse Ranch Holdings, LLC. Bred by MTZ & Ruse Ranch Holdings LLC, she is also trained by Gregorio Davila and was ridden by Leonardo Palomo. Mucho Man Route was an $11,000 repurchase at the LQHBA sale.

Firecracker Futurity (G2)

Kj Mucho Macho Man has already made his presence felt in one of Delta Downs' marquee open futurities after Mucho Man Lady emerged as the fastest qualifier for the $270,810 Firecracker Futurity (G2), which will be contested on July 4. The filly entered the trials off a win in the Old South Futurity in May.

She posted the top qualifying time of 17.751. Out of the Cosmograph mare Cosmo Traffic, she is owned and bred by Ruse Ranch LLC, trained by Jose A. Garcia, and was ridden by Manuel Gutierrez. Also third in the Grade 2 Louisiana Downs Futurity, Mucho Man Lady has banked $114,726 in five starts.

Firecracker Derby(G3)

Peacemaker Return, by Kj Mucho Macho Man, punched his ticket to the Grade 3 Firecracker Derby final after posting the 10th-fastest qualifying time during trials contested June 13 at Delta Downs. The 3-year-old gelding stopped the timer in 17.785 seconds for 350 yards, earning the final qualifying berth to the $149,670 Firecracker Derby(G3) to be run July 4 at Delta Downs.

Owned by Ruse Ranch LLC, Peacemaker Return is trained by Jose A. Garcia and was ridden to his qualifying effort by Jorge Javier Garcia. Bred in Louisiana by Luis Alvarez and Childers Ranch, the gelding is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Peace Fire.

Peacemaker Return was a bargain acquisition, selling for $16,000 at the 2024 Heritage Place Yearling Sale. He has steadily developed into a stakes-caliber runner and will now get his opportunity against nine rivals in the Firecracker Derby final.

Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks

In the $113,427 Delta Downs Louisiana Bred Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at 400 yards on July 11, KJ Mucho Macho Man will be represented by Stratosfaction. The filly qualified fourth overall after covering the distance in  20.100.

Out of Quarter Till Three by Dashin Bye, she races for Zach Stevenson and was bred in Louisiana by William Bernard Fournet. Dustin Rhodes trains the filly, who was ridden in the trials by Adrian Morales. A multiple stakes finalist, Stratosfaction has earned nearly $30,000.

A Grade 1 Runner

As a runner, Kj Mucho Macho Man won or placed in 14 of 19 career starts, earning $293,474. He was second in the Texas Classic Derby(G1) and Texas Classic Juvenile and third in the West Texas Futurity(G2) and Ruidoso Invitational. He was also a finalist in the All American Derby(G1), Rainbow QH Derby(G1), All American QH Gold Cup(G1) and Z Wayne Griffin Directors Handicap.

Kj Mucho Macho Man is a son of AQHA’s leading living sire, world champion Apollitical Jess SI 107 ($1,399,831).

Kj Mucho Macho Man is out of Grade 1 Rainbow Futurity winner Wild Six SI 103 ($601,632) by Tres Seis. She is the dam of 14 ROM, 12 winners, 5 black type, including stakes winners KJ Wildthang SI 107 (2025, $332,819) and Jess Wild For You SI 88 ($100,155).

Wild Six is also the granddam of stakes winners Kj Flying Cowgirl SI 102 ($235,863), KJ Wicked Wanda SI 99 ($86,779 at 2), and Chasing Butterflies (2025, $70,399).

In three crops to race, Kj Mucho Macho Man has sired 38 winners, 12 black-type performers, earners of $3.1 million, and average earnings per starter over $ 33,500. His top performers include multiple graded stakes winner Kj Bad Moon Rising, an 8-time winner of $1,379,856 to 4, 2026, New Mexico State Fair Futurity(RG2), 2nd All American Futurity(G1), etc.), and Dash For Cash Futurity(G2) winner Ivory Macho Man ($355,002 at 2), etc.
