PHOENIX, AZ–FEBRUARY 2, 2026– The online bidding portion of the annual Stallion Service Auction hosted by the Arizona Quarter Horse Racing Association has officially come to a close, but breeders still have time to secure valuable opportunities.
While competitive bidding ended at 7:00 p.m. MST on January 30, a number of quality stallion breedings remain available and may still be purchased at their listed minimum bids. These remaining breedings will be offered through May 1, providing breeders an extended window to participate in one of Arizona’s most important incentive programs.
All 2026 foals sired by stallions sold or repurchased through the 2026 AQRA Stallion Service Auction will be eligible for the 2029 Desert Classic Futurity and subsequent races. AQRA guarantees that a minimum of 50 percent of auction proceeds will be added directly to the Desert Classic Stakes Program, with remaining funds supporting AQRA initiatives including scholarships, purse enhancement, and promotional efforts to grow Quarter Horse racing opportunities statewide.
Stallion services are offered for Quarter Horse or Thoroughbred mares only and may not be transferred or resold without prior approval from both the stallion owner and AQRA. AQRA covers all farm fees, while mare owners are responsible for mare care, veterinary charges, and shipped semen expenses.
Services are sold for the 2026 breeding season and include a one-year right of return. Should a stallion die or become unfit for breeding prior to service, any funds paid to AQRA will be credited toward the following year’s Stallion Service Auction. AQRA assumes no responsibility for injury or death to mares or foals while at the stallion farm or resulting from shipped semen, nor for the quality of shipped semen.
Breeders are encouraged to review the remaining stallions still available and take advantage of this opportunity to invest in eligibility for the Desert Classic program while supporting the continued growth of Quarter Horse racing in Arizona.
