Flashy Hemp Stakes Goes to Jrs Jeeses Cartel In Nose Decision at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—JULY 11, 2026—Jrs Jeeses Cartel dug in through the final strides and held off a furious late rally from San Lorenzo Princess by a nose to capture Saturday's $50,000 Flashy Hemp Stakes for accredited Louisiana-bred fillies and mares at Delta Downs.

The 3-year-old bay filly stopped the timer in 16.596 for 330 yards while earning a 101 speed index over a fast track. Patty Wagon Train closed willingly to finish another neck behind the runner-up in third. Jrs Jeeses Cartel earned $30,000 for the victory, while San Lorenzo Princess collected $10,000, and Patty Wagon Train banked $5,500.

Bred in Louisiana by Julien R. Stevens III, Jrs Jeeses Cartel is a daughter of multiple stakes sire Majestic Cartel out of Ms Jesse Belle, by Mr Jess Perry. She races for David Bustamante and John A. Obregon, who were rewarded with a front-running performance as the filly broke sharply, established command immediately, and had just enough left to repel the late charge of the favorite.

Bustamante also saddled the winner, while Randy Edison Jr. was aboard for the winning ride. A five-time winner, Jrs Jeeses Cartel has earned $115,220 in 13 career starts.

Runner-up San Lorenzo Princess, a 4-year-old sorrel filly by champion sire Apollitical Blood out of Princess of Torts, by Corona Cartel, unleashed a powerful rally in deep stretch but came up a nose short at the wire. The Louisiana-bred was bred by Darrell Williams and races for Rogelio Marquez Jr. Juan Garcia trains the filly, who was ridden by Arturo Alvarez. She was listed as a 2026 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale RNA at $85,000. The restricted G2-placed filly has earned nearly $159,972 in 13 starts.

Another neck back, Patty Wagon Train completed the trifecta after a determined late run. The 6-year-old brown mare is by multiple stakes sire BP Wagon Train out of Pattymegone, by Game Patriot. Bred in Louisiana by Steven P. Miller, she races for John T. Sargent, is trained by Orlando Orozco, and was ridden by Bobby Ransom. The stakes-winning filly has earned $216,210 in 32 starts.

Completing the order of finish were Marcys Fast Train in fourth, Franny B Dove fifth, Shezinnocent sixth, Ace Fortunes N Eagle seventh, and Ajs Louisiana Chick eighth. Yoda was scratched
