RR Coronassecretgold and jockey Luis Cruz Ruiz win the $24,600 Spring Classic Maiden Frolic Finals at Pocatello Downs on May 25.

POCATELLO, ID–MAY 25, 2026–RR Coronassecretgold and jockey Luis Cruz Ruiz surged to victory in the $24,600 Spring Classic Maiden Frolic Finals at Pocatello Downs on Sunday afternoon, scoring by three-quarters of a length while stopping the timer in :15.534 seconds for a 98 speed index at 300 yards.

The sorrel colt entered the finals as the second-fastest qualifier from the May 10 trials. Bred by Reliance Ranches LLC, owned by Wade Ward, and trained by Tony Hyde, RR Coronassecretgold was a $6,500 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate.

The colt is sired by champion Hez Our Secret and out of the stakes-winning Corona Cartel mare Giving Freely ($31,792), a half sister to stakes winner Coronados Fate ($129,514). The female family traces to three-time champion Jess You An I ($1,851,691).

Winning his second consecutive race, RR Coronassecretgold improved his career earnings to $12,451 after collecting the $11,316 winner’s share of the purse.

Thought It Deluxe and jockey Julian Zavala finished second after a prolonged duel through the stretch, earning a 90 speed index with a time of :15.790 seconds. The gelding is a homebred for Jorge Murillo and is trained by Jose Pulido.

Sired by Eagle Deluxe and out of the stakes-placed Foose mare Thought It Through, Thought It Deluxe now owns a record of 8-1-3-1 with earnings of $11,866. He was previously runner-up in the Roche Equine Veterinary Services Futurity and fourth in last year’s Oneida Futurity.

Ridden by Jose Figueroa, Jr Dynasty Chick completed the trifecta another nose back in third with a 90 speed index while clocking :15.799 seconds.

Bred by Feliberto Luna and owned and trained by Cesar Luna, the filly is by JR Dynasty Mountain and out of the stakes-placed Agouti mare Desired Chick. Jr Dynasty Chick now has a career record of 7-0-5-2 with earnings of $7,648.

Duplicate Kopy finished fourth, followed by Paint Big Dreams, RM Cartel Dash, Miss Sigarra, Milliken Creek, KVN Dulce Corona, and Costsalottobeacowboy. The race was contested over a fast track with clear weather and an 8 mph crosswind.

The $6,500 Spring Classic Maiden Frolic Consolation was won by CD Driftin Da Wagon and jockey Eric Ayala, who covered the 300 yards in :15.693 seconds for a 93 speed index. The bay filly was bred by Daniel and Carol Lee, owned by Cristobal Ramirez, and trained by Ramiro Fregoso. Sired by CD Rockin Da Wagon and out of the Carters Cartel mare Jezabella, CD Driftin Da Wagon improved her record to 7-1-0-1 after earning her first career victory.
