Uncle Redheads Edges Stablemate to Capture Mr Master Bug Stakes at Remington Park

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 18, 2026–Uncle Redheads outdueled a determined stablemate in a thrilling finish to capture the $75,000 Mr Master Bug Stakes at Remington Park on Saturday night, getting the nod by a head in a blanket finish among the top three Oklahoma-breds.

Breaking sharply under Armando Alvidrez, Uncle Redheads tracked just off the early pace before engaging Famous N Relentless in a fierce stretch duel. The two stablemates battled stride-for-stride through the final yards, with Uncle Redheads edging clear at the wire. Apolitical Valor closed well to finish third, just three-quarters of a length behind the winner.

The final time for the 350 yards over a fast track was 17.535 seconds, a 91 speed index. Margins were head, ¾'s, and neck.

Owned by Cavenaugh Quarter Horses, LLC and trained by Jason Olmstead, Uncle Redheads earned $42,750 for the victory. The total purse distribution awarded $14,250 to second and $7,838 to third.

A sorrel gelding, Uncle Redheads is a 3-year-old son of champion Uncle D, out of Redheads Run Hotter, by One Sweet Jess. He was bred in Oklahoma by Charles and Elizabeth Horton. The gelding clocked his fifth career win and increased his earnings mark to $191,672.

Runner-up Famous N Relentless put in a game effort to miss by just a head for owners Tom Maher and Amber Olmstead. Also trained by Jason Olmstead he was ridden by Ramiro Garcia, the Oklahoma-bred gelding is by champion sire Hes Relentless out of Famous Cartel Lady, by Corona Cartel. He was bred by Tom Maher and earned $14,250 for his strong second-place finish.

Third-place finisher Apolitical Valor closed willingly to secure the show spot for MJR Investments, Ltd. Trained by Clinton Crawford and piloted by Jacob Enriquez, the colt is by Apollitical Jess out of Belle Of Valor by Valiant Hero. Bred in Oklahoma by Canadian River QH LLC, Apolitical Valor picked up $7,838 for finishing third.

Bp Hail Mary finished fourth, followed by Margarets Cowboy in fifth. Ding Dang Dulce was sixth, with T Bar Fabulous Eagle seventh. Cowboy 1 ran eighth, Kvn Design finished ninth, and Jess a Good Angel came home tenth.

Uncle Redheads’ career record and total earnings were not immediately available at press time from Equibase.

In a race that lived up to its billing, Uncle Redheads proved just a touch better than his competition, securing a signature stakes victory in dramatic fashion under the lights at Remington Park.
