OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 18, 2026–Js Freightrain unleashed a powerful late surge to win the Grade 2 $83,000 Easy Date Stakes at Remington Park on Saturday night, stopping the timer in 17.332 seconds, a 97 speed index with a 12 mph tailwind for 350 yards over a fast track.
Breaking from post 1, the 4-year-old Oklahoma-bred bay filly by world champion sire Freighttrain B out of As and Js (by Apollitical Jess) closed strongly under jockey Juan Pulido to defeat Apollirevenge by a half-length, with Flying Bandida another neck back in third. The winning effort earned $47,550 from the $81,160 total payout.
Bred and trained by Leonardo Alcala, Js Freightrain races for owner Marisol Alvarado. The victory added another stakes score to her résumé, pushing her career earnings to nearly $259,000.
Apollirevenge, a 3-year-old sorrel filly by champion A Revenant out of Apollititaka (by Apollitical Jess), finished second for owner Dunn Ranch and trainer Jed Vane with jockey Jesus Ayala aboard. She was a $48,000 purchase at the 2024 Ruidoso Yearling Sale.
Flying Bandida, a 4-year-old gray filly by Flying Cowboy 123 out of Meaningful Memories (by Pyc Paint Your Wagon), completed the trifecta for owners Shari Burger and Vickie McBee, trainer Jason Olmstead, and jockey Ramiro Garcia.
In the race’s early stages, Apollirevenge dueled from the outside while Flying Bandida and others contested the pace in a tightly packed group. Js Freightrain, positioned just off the leaders, found another gear late and surged past her rivals with a determined closing kick to secure the victory.
Karmalites finished fourth after being part of a three-horse photo for minor awards, followed by Sheza Fearless Eagle in fifth, D Fawn in sixth, I Am Candy in seventh, Flying Policy 123 in eighth, Eyesa Wagon My Tale in ninth, and Peppa, who had trouble at the start, completing the order of finish in tenth.
The Easy Date Stakes, restricted to fillies and mares three and up, once again produced a competitive and closely contested finish, highlighted by Js Freightrain’s decisive late run.
