OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–APRIL 18, 2026–Rgs Debutant delivered a determined performance Saturday evening at Remington Park, edging past a stubborn Mister Sinatra and a game Whiskey Doc to break his maiden while capturing the $75,000 Laico Bird Stakes for Oklahoma-bred 2-year-olds at 330 yards.

Clocked in a sharp 16.638 seconds, a 92 speed index over a fast track, Rgs Debutant prevailed by a nose, with another half-length separating second and third in a tightly contested finish. The victory was worth $43,200, boosting the gelding’s early career bankroll.

A brown gelding by Prized Wagon out of Ja Gols Debutante (by Gol), Rgs Debutant was bred in Oklahoma by Roy Garza and is owned by GGG Racing LLC. He is trained by Steven Jordan and was expertly guided to victory by champion jockey James Flores, who had the colt in perfect position from the outset before winning a dramatic stretch duel.

Runner-up Mister Sinatra, a sorrel gelding by second-crop sire Dulce Sin Tacha out of Little Bunny Blue (by Jess Louisiana Blue), rallied strongly but came up just short at the wire. Owned by Jamco Dreams, LLC and trained by Zackary Stinebaugh, he was ridden by Francisco Calderon. The gelding, a $35,000 purchase at the 2025 Heritage Place Yearling Sale, earned $14,400.

Third-place finisher Whiskey Doc, a brown gelding by Docs Dusty Cartel out of Jls Tacitlikejohn (by Tac It Like a Man), made a bold late bid but settled for third, earning $7,920 for owner Dusty Rose Ranch LLC. He is trained by Stacey Capps and was ridden by Cody Smith.

Completing the order of finish were Bp Jet Liner in fourth, followed by Royal Candy P in fifth, Auntie D in sixth, Gipsie Rose in seventh, Eyesa Chick Magnet in eighth, and County Line Capo ninth.

The Laico Bird Stakes, restricted to accredited Oklahoma-bred juveniles, offered a total purse of $75,000, and Rgs Debutant’s victory signaled a bright future for the promising young runner.
