Post-time favorite Flash Me A Corona (#4) held off O La Dee Da (#10) to win the $28,158 (US) Alberta Bred Derby on Friday at Century Downs.

ROCKY VIEW COUNTY, AB—OCTOBER 10, 2025—Flash Me A Corona held off a fast-closing O La Dee Da to capture Saturday’s $28,158 (US) Alberta Bred Derby at Century Downs, covering the 400 yards in 20.509 seconds while facing a 15 mph headwind over a fast track.

The brown gelding recorded an 80 speed index for the win under jockey Ricardo Moreno.

Bred in Alberta by Ralph Danard, Flash Me A Corona is a 3-year-old son of Obsessed With Corona out of Look Back Moonflash, by First Moonflash.

Owned by Denard and Janet Patriquin, and trained by Craig Smith, the gelding earned $12,671 (US) for the victory. A $7,400 purchase from the 2023 AQHRA Sale, Flash Me A Corona brushed rivals early but held strong under a determined drive to the wire. A winner of eight of 18 starts, he has earned $82,628

O La Dee Da, a chestnut filly by leading Canadian sire First Timber out of Sass N Dass, by El Rey Burner, finished a head behind the winner after a strong late surge.

Bred and owned by Wesley and Susen A. Oulton, the filly is trained by Wesley and ridden by Neville Stephenson. A 2023 AQHRA Sale repurchase for $4,500, O La Dee Da collected $4,787 (US) for her runner-up effort, increasing her earnings to nearly $40,000.

Ima Hott Version, a chestnut filly by Winners Version out of Im Hott Ur Nott, by Tres Seis, finished third, another head back. Bred by Ralph Danard, the filly is owned by Laci Brunelle and Darby Danard, trained by Misael Moreno, and was ridden by Daniel Tavares.

She was purchased for $42,000 at the 2023 AQHRA Sale and earned $2,815 (US) for her third-place finish. A three-time winner, she has earned $42,598 in 12 starts.

Flash Me A Corona paid $4.20 to win, $2.50 to place, and $2.40 to show. O La Dee Da returned $27.80 to place and $7.90 to show, while Ima Hott Version paid $2.60 to show.

Rjs Boss, Inseperable Cruise, Surely Im Corona, Ima Runnin Rose, De la Roza, and Fabulous Show Off completed the order of finish.
