EDMONTON, AB—OCTOBER 4, 2025—Post time favorite Flight Club ($2.60) scored a determined victory in Saturday’s $17,550 (US) CTD Distance Stakes at Century Downs, covering the 770 yards in 40.668 seconds with a 95 speed index over a fast track under a 15 mph crosswind.
Ridden by Alexander Marti and trained by William Leech, the 7-year-old multiple stakes-winning son of champion Foose out of Seperate Flight by Separatist broke alertly from the rail, took command early, and drifted out in the stretch but held on to win by 1¼ lengths.
The gray, bred in California by Steve D. Burns DVM, and owned by Jerry Stojan, earned $7,979(US) for the win, boosting his career earnings to $222,472. A $19,000 purchase at the 2019 Los Alamitos Equine Mixed Sale, Flight Club won the Century Mile Racetrack Distance Stakes in June.

Uncommon Soldier, a 4-year-old gelding by Favorite Soldier out of Sis Tar by Fastnfierce, finished second for owner-breeder Clifton G. Dennis of Montana. Also trained by Dennis and ridden by Gabriel Asencio, Uncommon Soldier chased the leader throughout and finished strongly to earn $3,319(US), bring his earnings total to $43,034.
Willie Lump Lump, a 4-year-old gelding by Big Lew out of Valdarama by Country Quick Dash, ran evenly to finish third,3-1/4 lengths back. Bred in Oklahoma by Kelly Yother Equine LLC, the chestnut is owned by Isaak Fehr, trained by Misael Moreno, and was ridden by Daniel Tavares.
He earned $1,807 (US) and was a $9,500 purchase at the 2022 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. Willie Lump Lump won the CTM Distance Stakes a year ago and has banked nearly $50,000.
Flight Club returned a $2.60 win, $2.30 place, and $2.10 show; Uncommon Soldier paid $2.30 place and $2.10 show; and Willie Lump Lump paid $2.10.
Cd Brookstone Boogie, First Gold Dash completed the field.
