GRAND PRAIRIE, TX—SEPTEMBER 26, 2025—Ima Chili, a 3-year-old Texas-bred double-registered gelding by leading second-crop sire Chilitos out of Im Not Hillary by Executive Menace, captured the $59,000 B.F. Phillips, Jr. Stakes at Lone Star Park on Friday night.
With Nestor Duran in the irons, the bay gelding broke sharply, overcame early contact, and drove home to win the 400-yard test in 19.558 seconds with a 97 speed index.
The victory, his fourth in eight starts against Quarter Horses, came by a half-length under clear skies with a crosswind of one mile per hour. Bred by Sarah Huskey, Ima Chili is owned by Darrell L. Hooper and trained by Zackery Rios. He earned $33,630 for the win to boost his earnings to $151,323.
Top Cowboy, a 4-year-old sorrel gelding by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of Paradice City by Pyc Paint Your Wagon, rallied late under jockey Christian Ramos to secure second place.
The Texas-bred runner, trained by Marc Jungers for owners Rodrigo Gonzalez and Leviram Racing LLC, picked up $10,030 for the effort. He was bred by Tyler and Naia Graham and had previously been offered at the 2022 TQHA Yearling Sale where he was repurchased for $62,000. He is a multiple stakes-placed earner of $88,471.
Jess Louisiana Girl, a 3-year-old filly by Chilitos out of Sissy Cartel by The Louisiana Cartel, finished third with jockey Claudio Aguilar aboard. Just a nose behind the runner-up, she is trained by Victor Fierro for owner Eleazar Martinez Sr.. Bred by Anahi Martinez, she earned $5,900. The multiple stakes-placed earner of $73,661 was an RNA for $24,000 at the 2023 TQHA Yearling Sale.
Top Cowboy paid $12.20 to place and $8.00 to show, while Jess Louisiana Girl returned $5.40 to show.
Following the top three, Hes A Jet One finished fourth, with Kas Prietito fifth, Frasier sixth, Zef Lucky Seis seventh, Onthrocks eighth, and Celena Olena ninth.
