ROCK SPRING, WY–SEPTEMBER 13, 2025—Ten trials for accredited Wyoming-bred two-year-olds were contested Saturday afternoon at Sweetwater Downs to determine the finalists for the  $183,350 WABRA Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity.

The 300-yard events produced a swift field, with the ten fastest advancing to the September 27 final. Flying Rocco led the way, and he edged his rivals in the next-to-final trial of the day to post the fastest qualifying time.

Flying Rocco, a sorrel gelding by leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 out of This Chicks A Queen by Looking For Chicks, stopped the timer in 15.398 to earn a 99 speed index and the top qualifying spot.

Owned and bred in Wyoming by J. P. Sample, Flying Rocco is trained by Kylie Valenzuela and was ridden by Jose Juan Olivo. The gelding flew from the gates and held off a late surge from Sixs Cb Blakely to secure the day’s fastest time.

Flying Rocco has won four of six career starts, including a second-place finish in the $226,000 Wyoming Bred Futurity at Energy Downs in June and sixth in the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity at Wyoming Downs in July. He has earned $54,648.

The second-fastest qualifier, Miss Pollys Train, captured her trial in commanding fashion, posting a time of 15.403, also a 99 speed index.

The gray filly is by world champion sire Freighttrain B and out of Political Bedlam by Apollitical Jess. She races for breeder-owner Bill Doenz (WY), is conditioned by Josh Taylor, and was piloted to victory by Julian Zavala.

Much the best in her heat, Miss Pollys Train stamped herself as a leading contender heading into the final. An earner of $27,422, she has won four of six starts and was a finalist in the Ron Cook Accredited Wyoming Bred Futurity.

Rounding out the top three was Sixs Cb Blakely, who just missed in a nose defeat to Flying Rocco in their trial, recording a time of 15.415, a 98 speed index. The filly is by Sixs Charlie Brown out of Eyesa Special Beddy by Eyesa Special Slim.

Bred in Wyoming by Broken Bones Cattle Co., she races for the same outfit under the direction of trainer Jesse Villegas, with Luis Peralta in the irons. A finalist in both the Ron Cook and the Wyoming Bred Futurity, she has earned $19,838 with two wins in eight starts.

The remaining seven fastest qualifiers will join Flying Rocco, Miss Pollys Train, and Sixs Cb Blakely in the  $183,350 WABRA Wyoming Bred Futurity final at Sweetwater Downs on Saturday, September 27.
