MEXICO CITY, MX–AUGUST 31, 2025–Princesa Bury added another trophy to her collection with a commanding performance in the $54,000 Mexican Bred Distaff Derby on Sunday at Hipódromo de las Américas. After setting the fastest qualifying time in the trials, the heavy favorite lived up to expectations, cruising to victory in the 350-yard final.
Breaking third from the gates, Princesa Bury quickly surged to the lead at first call and never looked back, stopping the clock in 17.50 seconds with an 85 speed index. Jockey Alejandro Gomez guided the daughter of Danny Cartel to the finish line, crossing 1 ¾ lengths in front of Hf Cinnamon Carver.
With Hubercein Gomez aboard, Hf Cinnamon Carver kept the pressure on throughout the trip and closed strongly, but had to settle for second. Fancy B Fritz, ridden by Pablo Tadeo, staged a late rally in the final yards to secure third.

The $22,600 winner’s share of the purse boosted Princesa Bury’s earnings to $232,900. From 14 starts, the filly now boasts 10 wins, including this year’s Mexico Derby, the Mexico Breeders’ Futurity Challenge, and the Mexican Bred Futurity as a freshman. Trainer Juan Jose Razo conditions the three-year-old filly for owner Cuadra Guillen.
Bred by Armando Leon, Princesa Bury was honored as the 2024 Mexican Champion Two-Year-Old Filly at Hipódromo de las Américas. A $29,132 purchase from the Mexico Select Yearling Sale, she is out of Princesa Bury Buu by One Dashing Eagle.
Runner-up Hf Cinnamon Carver, a son of Tj Dine N Dash, has six wins from 11 starts and career earnings of $52,200. Luis Eustasio Nieto Muñoz trains the colt for owner Cuadra Falcon. He was bred by Hector Flores out of Waves And Kisses by Wave Carver.
Fancy B Fritz, a son of Fearless Fritz bred by Rachuan Suarez, is out of Jess Gotta B Fancy by Ima Fancy Pyc. Trained by Ramon Guerrero Trejo for owner Cuadra L R, the colt improved his record to 2-3-4 from 18 starts with $19,500 in earnings following his third-place finish.
Jacob Israelita, Caliente Jess, Fredas Wagon, and Stoli The Corona rounded out the order of finish.
