Marcy Train B Surges Late to Win $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante at Delta Downs

VINTON, LA—AUGUST 30, 2025—Under cloudy skies on a wet fast track at Delta Downs, Marcy Train B surged in the final yards to capture the $50,000 LQHBA Sale Debutante Stakes for accredited Louisiana-bred two-year-old fillies.

Covering the 350-yard distance in 17.840 seconds with a speed index of 88, the sorrel filly earned $30,000 for owner Jaime Cardenas. Ridden by Jorge Garcia and trained by Miguel Castillo, the daughter of world champion sire Freighttrain B out of Jessbye Marcy by Mr Jess Perry was bred by Grant Farms LLC and sold for $41,000 at the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale.

Winner of the Louisiana Bred Lassie Futurity(RG2) in May, Marty Trian B has won three of seven starts and banked $161,272.

Jess Another Mornin, a bay filly by third-crop sire Tarzanito out of Mornin Jess by Mr Jess Perry, set the pace early and held the lead until the closing strides before being collared by the winner. Bred and owned by Live Oak Farms, she is trained by Danny Hoda and was ridden by Rene Hernandez. Jess Another Mornin earned $10,000 for the runner-up finish to boost her bankroll to $37,200 from seven starts.

Finishing third was Geaux Aspen Rose, a bay filly by champion Five Bar Cartel out of Geaux Blue by Jess Louisiana Blue, bred by Tony Palermo Sr. and owned by Tony and Tina Palermo. Trained by Preston Jourdan and ridden by Donell Blake, she rallied late despite bumping at the start to earn $5,500. Geaux Aspen Rose was a $13,000 RNA at the 2024 LQHBA Yearling Sale and has won two of four starts and earned $18,100.

Mutuel payouts returned $5.60 to win, $3.00 to place, and $2.20 to show on Marcy Train B. Jess Another Mornin paid $3.60 to place and $2.60 to show, while Geaux Aspen Rose returned $2.80 to show.

Crystal Jackson finished fourth, followed by Stratosfaction, Goodlookingperry, Ladies Cruz Higher, Lagartija C, Higher Presence, and Smokeshow V to complete the order of finish.
