MEXICO CITY, MEX–AUGUST 10, 2025–Fastest qualifier from the trials, Dark Water Bay, returned on Sunday to prove he was the best with a victory in the $39,000 Jodys Glory Classic finals at the Hipodromo de las Americas.
Heriberto Camacho guided Dark Water Bay to the win in 17.69 seconds, clocking an 80 speed index. Breaking sixth from the gates, the son of Mr Jess Perry recomposed himself and took command in the final stretch, defeating Bolt Thru My Heart by three-quarters of a length.
The $19,364 winner’s share of the purse boosted his lifetime earnings to over $40,000 and improved his race record to two wins, two seconds, and one third from five starts. With runner-up finishes in both The Prize Classic and the John Deere Juvenile Championship Challenge, this marked Dark Water Bay’s first stakes victory.

Dark Water Bay was bred in Oklahoma by Mike Vaughan out of Aqua Girl, by Corona Cartel. The $77,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate is owned by Cuadra Alpuyeca and trained by Antonio García.
Runner-up Bolt Thru My Heart, ridden by Luis Alfonso Fernandez, earned her first career black-type score. The daughter of Bolt Of Fire remains a maiden with two second-place finishes from six starts and previously ran fourth in The Prize Classic.
Trained by Alberto Fernandez, Bolt Thru My Heart has earned over $14,500 for owner Cuadra Valtoro. Monty McNair bred the $13,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate in Oklahoma out of Corona Valentine, by Corona Cartel.
SJM Cowboy Desires finished third under Alejandro Gomez. The son of leading sire Flying Cowboy 123 has one win from five starts and was a finalist in the John Deere Juvenile Championship Challenge.
Trainer Antonio García also saddled SJM Cowboy Desires for owner Cuadra Alpuyeca. The sorrel filly was bred in Oklahoma by Sammy Manek and is out of Hi Ho Desirio, by Desirio.
FDD Star, RG Divine Reason, Blue On The Run, Big Pearls Cartel, and RG Shes Capibara Bit completed the order of finish.
