MALAD CITY, ID–AUGUST 9, 2025–Rc Mayito Gotcorona scored his first win of the season with a photo finish in the $5,500 Oneida County Maturity (not black type) on Saturday at the Oneida County Fair
The son of Daguerre flew in from the outside, covering 300 yards in 15.359 seconds and clocking a 101 speed index. His effort came with steady handling from jockey Carlos Lorta, who kept the five-year-old horse in front by a nose over post-time favorite Smokin Lil Wagon.
Rc Mayito Gotcorona is out of Nv Snowing, by We Have a Secret, and was bred in Utah by Rafael Cuenca. He races in the colors of Rafael Cuenca and is conditioned by R. Cuenca. The $3,300 winner’s share of the purse increased his earnings to $16,699, and he now has three wins from 19 starts.
Smokin Lil Wagon, ridden by Jesus Flores, chased gamely, but just missed at the wire for second. The 5-year-old mare is by Lil Kool Wagon and is out of the Jumpn mare Smokn Mirrors. She was bred in Idaho by John McBride and is campaigned by Glen and Jill Jamison. Glen Jamison also conditioned her.
BNB Hasta La Luna, a 4-year-old gray filly, took third, 1 ¼-length back of Smokin Lil Wagon. She is sired by Moonin The Eagle and is out of Hasta La Veesta, by Brimmerton. Bred in Utah by Bobby D. Cox, she races for Rainee Browning and is prepared by Ricardo Castillo, Sr. Jockey J. Espinoza guided her through the 300-yard dash to secure the show placing.
Te runnin Royal Kid and Racy Taggert complete the order of finish.
