Hiclass Famous One Rallies to Win $16,670 NDQHRA Northern Plains Futurity

FARGO, ND—JULY 25, 2025—Hiclass Famous One surged to a thrilling victory in the $16,670 NDQHRA Northern Plains Futurity at North Dakota Horse Park on Friday, using a determined rally along the inside rail to capture the 350-yard dash for two-year-old Quarter Horses.

With Ricardo Martinez aboard, the bay filly stopped the clock in 18.601 seconds over a fast track in front of a 25 mph crosswind.

The daughter of Famous Painted One, out of Hiclass Little Lily by Hiclass La Jolla, is a Louisiana-bred who scored her first career win in two stars.

 She was bred by Harold M. Jeanotte and races for owner Darrel H. Smith. The win gave trainer Uriel Cervantes his first two top-three finishers in the race. Hiclass Famous One earned $7,502 for the victory.

Finishing a game second was Coronas Famous Chick, a sorrel filly by Coronas Leaving You, out of Sr One Famous Chick by One Famous Eagle. Owned by Rodney Smith and trained by Uriel Cervantes, Coronas Famous Chick was ridden by Jasten Pedraza and held the early lead before being outfinished in the final strides by her stablemate.

She earned $3,334. The Oklahoma-bred filly was bred by Ron Sloan and sold for $10,500 at the 2024 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.

Third-place finisher Tokio Rose, the 1.70-to-1 post-time favorite, held strong throughout but could not match the top pair late. The daughter of Famous Painted One, out of Tko Sassy Zoom by Shazoom, was bred in North Dakota by owner Darrel H. Smith and races for Wilson Racing Stables.

Trained by Robert Johnson and ridden by Dakota Wood, Tokio Rose earned $1,667. Winner of the Rusty Wilson Memorial Futurity, the brown filly has banked $16,092 with a (6) 3-1-2 record, never finishing off the board.

Hiclass Famous One paid $21.00 to win, $10.20 to place, and $4.80 to show. Coronas Famous Chick returned $4.20 to place and $5.60 to show. Tokio Rose paid $2.60 to show. a paid $155.55.

Travelin Princess finished fourth, followed by Love Eye See in fifth, Noras Nightmare sixth, Tarlas Hot Dasher seventh, and Bodies Blow Out eighth.
