BEND, OR–JULY 12, 2025–In a thrilling finish on Saturday at the Crooked River Roundup, Bv Mary Rose surged late to capture the $19,500 Rhoden Memorial Stakes for Quarter Horses three years old and upward, covering the 250 yards in 13.086 seconds with a speed index of 97.
Under clear skies and no wind, the six-year-old brown mare trained and co-owned by Bryan Flores with Tranquilino Flores earned $9,750 for the victory.
Bv Mary Rose, bred in Oklahoma by Bella Vista Farms LLC, is by multiple staks sire Hez Our Secret out of Striking Presence, by Corona Cartel. She was ridden confidently by jockey Jose Rodriguez. She was a $7,000 purchase at the 2020 Heritage Place Yearling Sale.
Bv Mary Rose entered the race off a second-place finish in the Directors Handicap at Grants Pass in her last start June 28. She has won eight of 20 starts and earned $51,635.
Runner-up honors went to multiple stakes winner Warhock, a ten-year-old sorrel gelding by Zoomin For Bux out of Copa Show Girl, by Corona Cartel. Bred by Hayden Brothers Ranch (OR) and owned by Malon L. Cowgill, Warhock is trained by Benito Curiel and was ridden by Alex Anaya. Warhock earned $4,875 after finishing just a nose back in a game effort between rivals. He is a 12 time winner of nearly $109,000.
Third place was secured by multiple stakes winner The Prize Ferarri, a seven-year-old brown gelding by The Louisiana Cartel out of Ferarri Fast Prize, by Mr Jess Perry. Bred by Weetona Stanley (OK) and owned by RTM Stables LLC, the gelding is trained by Mark Hanson and was piloted by Jose Figueroa. The Prize Ferarri earned $2,340 for his effort after leading early but being caught late. He was an RNA for $30,000 at the 2024 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale and has earnings of $187,393 off 20 career wins.
Pari-mutuel payoffs returned $16.20 to win, $4.60 to place, and $2.60 to show for Bv Mary Rose. Warhock paid $3.40 to place and $2.40 to show, while The Prize Ferarri returned $2.20 to show.
Also rans were The Great One fourth, Ps Rocky Mountain fifth, Dash to the Flash T sixth, and B the One seventh.
