GILLETTE, WY–JULY 4, 2025– Quick Creek set the pace on Friday evening at Wyoming Downs, turning in the fastest qualifying time from a full slate of seven trials for the upcoming $35,000 Gary Waite Maiden Stakes (not black type). The trials, run over a fast 330-yard course, were restricted to horses who were still maidens as of January 1. Finals will be run on Sunday, July 20.
Piloted by Gerardo Vera, Quick Creek stopped the clock in 16.703 with a 96 speed index while winning trial five, which was race 11 on the card.
Just breaking his maiden in June, Quick Creek made it back-to-back wins with a gate-to-wire effort. The Wyoming-bred son of Conn Creek broke alertly from the inside and never looked back, pulling clear to a 1 1/2-length victory over his rivals.
Owned by Justin and Amy Davis and trained by Calli VanTassell Dominguez, the three-year-old gray gelding is out of Quickie In The Snow by Snowbound (TB) and was bred by Ron and Laurie Moosman. With this performance, Quick Creek now boasts a record of 2-2-2 from 8 starts and career earnings of $12,830.
Run the Dynasty delivered her breakthrough performance in winning trial three with a 16.715 effort and matching Quick Creek’s 96 speed index. Making her seventh career start, the filly surged late under Luis Valenzuela to pull away by 1 1/2 lengths at the wire for the victory.
Josh Taylor trains the daughter of FDD Dynasty for owner Bill Doenz. She was bred in Oklahoma by Rick Young out of Run by You by Apollitical Jess and was purchased for $25,000 at the 2023 Heritage Place Fall Mixed Sale.
