SHELBYVILLE, IN—JUNE 28, 2025—Two-year-old Indiana-sired Quarter Horses lit up the track at Horseshoe Indianapolis on June 28 during five trial heats for the $195,800 Gordon Mobley Futurity, with Hh Shakem Cate and Tw No Beach Secrets emerging as the two fastest qualifiers for the rich final on July 19.
Brisa Alia Ventura Hernandez’s filly, Hh Shakem Cate, delivered the standout performance of the afternoon, clocking the fastest qualifying time of 17.815 for the 350-yard distance, A 91 speed index into a five mph headwind.
Bred in Indiana by Larry Carter and John Myers, the sorrel filly is by leading regional sire Escondido Beach and out of the mare Shakem Jake, whose sire is Royal Shake Em.
Trained by Jessica A. Vazquez and ridden by Giovani Vazquez-Gomez, Hh Shakem Cate surged to the front and drew away to win her trial heat by a full length, stamping herself as the one to beat in the final. This is the second win in as many starts, after the filly broke her maiden at Horseshoe on June 6. The $25.600 QHRAI Stallion Service gradaute has earned $17,600.
