Imaginacion Delivers Emotional First Stakes Victory in $124,100 Energy Downs Maturity

GILLETTE, WY–JUNE 14, 2025–On Saturday afternoon, at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing, Imaginacion surged to a career-defining victory in the $124,100 Energy Downs Maturity, a 400-yard stakes event for Quarter Horses aged three and up.

Imaginacion clocked a swift 19.775-second victory while running into a six mph headwind. The four-year-old gelding posted a 106 speed index over a fast track, earning the winner’s share of $62,050. His winning effort paid $8.80 on 3-1 odds.

The son of Hes Relentless crossed the finish line 3/4-lengths ahead of post-time favorite Just a Flyin Cowgirl, with Fire Of The Mountain a 1/2-length back in third. Jockey Edwin Escobedo was in control of the reins.

Trained by Joe Davis, Imaginacion is owned by The Imaginacion Partners and continues to build momentum with his second consecutive win this season. He has lit the board in 12 of 19 starts, tallying five victories and pushing his lifetime earnings to $145,321.

This win marks his first career stakes triumph, a notable improvement over his first stakes attempt, where he finished eighth-place in last year’s Retama Park Derby. Imaginacion was bred in Oklahoma by Jahree Standridge out of the mare Pollitical Scorpion, by Apollitical Jess.

The gelding is a 2022 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale graduate, was purchased for $11,000 by the late Gregg Sanders. After passing, his daughter, Kaylee Escobedo, assumed ownership responsibilities and quickly formed a deep connection with the horse.

Following the win, Kaylee shared an emotional tribute: “I know Dad’s having a big party in heaven today.”

Favored to win after recording the fastest qualifying time in the Maturity trials, Just a Flyin Cowgirl finished second under jockey Cordarelton Benn. Also trained by Joe Davis, the four-year-old filly is owned by McGehee Horse and Cattle LLC.

Just A Flyin Cowgirl was bred in Texas by T.C. Flack out of Just Another Natural, a daughter of Furyofthewind. With four wins, three seconds, and two thirds from 11 starts, the Flying Cowboy 123 filly’s career earnings now total $68,832.

Fire Of The Mountain completed the trifecta under Jesus Virgen for trainer Joe Hadley. A consistent and seasoned competitor, the five-year-old gelding has finished on the board in all 13 of his starts, with nine victories, including the Blane Schvaneveldt Handicap.

The son of Jr Dynasty Mountain has earned $90,584 for owners-breeders Larry and Joyce Mower. Fire Of The Mountain was bred in Utah out of Sheza Signature, by Vital Sign.

Behind the top three finishers, the order of finish was Injeanius, Yo Morning Delite, Lj Lucky 7, Cash 23, Moon Em N Dash, Love Kiss J Lee, and Jkh Almost A Dynasty.
