Ud Baby Sets Fastest Time In Wyoming Bred Futurity Trials

GILLETTE, WY—JUNE 7, 2025—Ud Baby, a daughter of Five Bar Cartel, posted the fastest qualifying time during trials Saturday at Energy Downs for the $175,000-est. Wyoming Bred Quarter Horse Futurity Final, which will be contested on June 21, 2025.

The 10 trials consisted of accredited Wyoming-Bred juveniles.

Bred and owned by Uriel Dominguez Lucero of Wyoming, the filly delivered a sharp performance in the ninth of ten trials, completing the 300-yard distance in :15.353 seconds, a 101 speed index with a 15 mph tailwind.

Ridden by Brayan Juarez and trained by Calli VanTassell Dominguez, Ud Baby pulled away late to defeat Paint Me Ivory by three-quarters of a length while posting the fastest clocking of the day.

By multiple stakes sire Five Bar Cartel, Ud Baby is out of the Tac It Like A Man mare Bvlgari B, and was bred in Wyoming by her owner. She broke her maiden in the trial after finishing fourth in her career debut, a maiden May 17.

The second-fastest qualifier was Sixs Cb Blakely, a filly by Sixs Charlie Brown out of Eyesa Special Beddy by Eyesa Special Slim, bred in Wyoming by Broken Bones Cattle Company.

Owned by her breeder and trained by Jesse Villegas, she posted a time of 15.411 seconds, a 98 speed index, in the fifth trial. David Alvarez, Jr. had the riding call. She also broke her maiden today after finishing third in her to previous starts that includes the consolation for the BHS Futurity.

The top 10 fastest times from the trials advanced to the final of the Wyoming Bred QH Futurity, open to accredited Wyoming-bred two-year-olds. The final will be run at 300 yards on Saturday, June 21, at Energy Downs 307 Horse Racing in Gillette.

Other top stallions getting qualifiers included two for Flying Cowboy 123, Jr Dynasty Mountain, Fly Thru The Fire, and first-crop sire Cyber Monday.
