Chilitos Sires Top Two in Colors Of Houston Futurity-G2, Miss Nely Gets The Upset

HOUSTON, TX–JUNE 7, 2025Miss Nely notched her first career win in dramatic fashion, pulling off a surprise victory in the Grade 2 $63,885 Colors Of Houston Futurity on Saturday afternoon at Sam Houston Race Park.

Piloted by Rene Alvizo, Miss Nely dueled to the final call where she shot off will a 3/4-length victory in 15.484 seconds, clocking a 98 speed index. As the ninth fastest qualifier from the trials, the longshots upset victory paid $52.80 on 25-1 odds.

Chill Chill, ridden by Luis Vivanco crossed the wire in second place, defeating Mrs Pyc Painted Nova and jockey Claudio Aguilar, who placed third by a neck.

Miss Nely, who made two attempts at breaking her maiden early this season placed fifth in her trial heat. The finals victory marks her first win from four starts and the $24,276 winner’s share boosts her bankroll to $25,855.

Trainer Manuel Roman saddled Miss Nely for owner Omar Paredes. The two-year-old daughter of leading sophomore sire Chilitos was bred in Texas by Edgar Saul Rosales out of Shakair by Dashair. She was a $10,000 TQHA Yearling Sale graduate.

Runner-up Chill Chill has yet to break her maiden. The two-year-old filly has one second and one third from two starts with $11,521 in earnings for owner Isaac Ortiz. Also sired by Chilitos, the Texas-bred filly was bred by Texas Drywall Special Ties out of the Freighttrain B mare Train 214.

Trainer Randall Read conditioned third-place finisher Mrs Pyc Painted Nova for owners-breeders Maci and Michael Read. The daughter of Little Pyc, who was the fastest qualifier from the trials, has two wins from five starts and $18,736 in the bank. She is out of Get Down Jessie by Get Down Perry.

Rounding out the order of finish is Chile Piquin, Wl Post Malone, Jackson Davis 747, Crb Wagon Shaker, Just An Eagle, Devins Livewire and Cholulaa.
