ELGIN, TX-APRIL 21, 2026–The Texas Quarter Horse Association issued a reminder that consignment forms for the 2026 TQHA Yearling Sale are available online along with an AQHA Transfer Report. This sale is for Accredited Texas Bred Yearlings (foals of 2025).
The 2026 sale will be held July 24–25 at the Exposition Hall at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio. Both forms are also available on the TQHA website.
Consignors must complete one consignment form per entry and fill out the seller information section on the AQHA Transfer Report for each yearling. The consignment form is a fillable PDF that can be completed electronically and printed or downloaded and saved.
Typed signatures are accepted, though consignors may also print and sign the document by hand. Blank forms may still be printed and completed manually if preferred. The AQHA Transfer Report must be printed and requires a handwritten signature.
All paperwork must be received in the TQHA office no later than May 1, 2026. Submissions must arrive by that date and not simply be postmarked. Consignors are strongly encouraged to submit forms early and use a shipping method with tracking, such as Priority Mail, FedEx, or UPS, due to ongoing postal delays.
The Early Bird Nomination for the 2027 Texas Breeders Futurity returns for this sale. A checkbox on the consignment form allows consignors to participate in the $75,000-added futurity. Those selecting this option must include a separate $100 payment for the nomination.
This fee must be submitted independently from the consignment payment and may be paid by check, cashier’s check, or credit card. The consignment form will serve as the nomination form if this option is selected.
The futurity continues to offer strong incentives, including a $20,000 Nominator’s Award distributed to the top four finishers ($10,000 for first, $5,000 for second, $3,000 for third, and $2,000 for fourth). This structure allows consignors to benefit from a horse’s future success even after the sale. The 2026 Texas Breeders Futurity carried a purse of $541,000.
Consignors must also submit original parentage-verified AQHA certificates of registration. Horses cannot pass through the sale ring without these documents on file.
Those still awaiting certificates are advised to contact AQHA for status updates. Anyone who has not yet submitted registration paperwork should do so immediately and consider expedited processing to ensure timely return.
For additional information or questions regarding the consignment process, contact the TQHA office or reach out directly to Scott Sherwood at 512-458-5202, Ext. 107, or via email at ssherwood@tqha.com. Consignors can also visit the TQHA website for full details and access to all required forms.
