RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–AUGUST 9, 2025–A $425,000 filly in the closing session headed a list of 13 six-figure state-bred 2-year-old Quarter Horses selling over the past two days at the Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale at the Ruidoso Horse Sale Pavilion in Ruidoso Downs.
All American Ruidoso Horse Sale LLC reported gross receipts of $5,443,300 on 146 of 187 Quarter Horse yearlings offered, an 11% increase over $4,910,700 for 125 head last year. The average dipped slightly to $37,283 compared to $38,974, and the median was down at $15,000 compared to $17,500 a year ago.
Prestige Stables paid $425,000 for the high-seller, Hip 175 Sea Pearl, a daughter of leading New Mexico sire Eye Am King. The sale's leading consignor, MJ Farms, Agent, consigned the half-sister to Zia Futurity(RG1) winner Mister Riptide and New Mexico State Fair Derby(RG3) winner Miss Hi Tide.
MJ Farms, Agent, also consigned day 2's second high-seller, Hip 301 Shafer. Ty Baca, Ted Rushing, Triple R Racing LLC, and Tungsten Racing Partnership paid $350,000 for the Big Daddy Cartel gelding from the champion mare Astica. Shafer is a full or half-sibling to 11 black type, including Los Alamitos Oaks(G1) winner Asscher.
MJ Farms, Agent, also consigned Hip 216, Bigg Twist, a $250,000 Big Daddy Cartel gelding purchased by Rancho El 48 LLC. The sorrel gelding, out of C Twister Sies, by Tres Seis, is a half-brother to Ruidoso QH Futurity(G1) winner and All American Futurity(G1) fastest qualifier Political Twist.
Rancho El 48 LLC was the sale's leading buyer with three purchases totaling $760,000. Prestige Stables had the one purchase tonight for $425,000 and Ty Baca, Ted Rushing, Triple R Racing LLC, and Tungsten Racing Partnership had one for $350,000.
MJ Farms was the sale's leading consignor or agent with gross receipts of $3,184,500 on 26 yearlings. La Feliz Montana Ranch LLC sold 15 yearlings for $328,000, and Mike Logan, Agent, had eight yearlings for $321,000.
Eye Am King was the leading sales sire by average (2 or more sold) with 18 yearlings averaging $98,389. Big Daddy Cartel had an average of $54,283 for 46 sold, and Suspicious Interest sold six for a $28,250 average. Elmer was the leading first sale-crop sire (2 or more sold) with a $17,500 average on seven head.
