Eight trial heats for the RG2 $230,000 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity are on tap Friday night at Retama Park.

SELMA, TX–AUGUST 4, 2026–The spotlight shines on Retama Park Friday evening, as an action-packed 11-race program features eight trial heats for the RG2 $230,000 TQHA Sires’ Cup Futurity. First post is set for 6:45 p.m., with 79 talented 2-year-olds vying for one of just ten coveted spots in the August 22 finale.

The Sires’ Cup Futurity Trials are open exclusively to the progeny of stallions that participated in the TQHA Stallion Service Auction, making it one of the premier showcases for Texas stallion power each season. The eight trial heats will be run in races three through ten, with each juvenile sprinting 350 yards in hopes of advancing to the championship final.

One of the most anticipated contenders appears in the seventh trial, race nine, where Ruse Man Crystal has been installed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite. The talented filly has started only twice but has already established herself as one of the more promising runners in the field. After winning her trial to qualify for the Grade 2 $435,000 Oklahoma Futurity, she overcame a significant bump at the start before rallying to finish third, beaten by just three-quarters of a length. She enters Friday off a pair of sharp Remington Park workouts, including one of the fastest moves recorded in late May and the second-fastest workout of the day in her most recent drill. Racing for K K Horse Racing, she has already earned $53,818.

Bred in Louisiana by Ruse Ranch, LLC, the daughter of KJ Mucho Macho Man is out of the Walk Thru Fire mare Crystal Sola. Trainer Jose A. Garcia sends her out from post 10, with Nestor Duran retaining the mount.

The opening trial in race three features Let It B Cowgirl as the 5-2 morning-line favorite. The daughter of Flying Cowboy 123 has shown steady improvement in four career starts. After finishing second in her maiden debut, she broke through with a trial victory, qualifying for the Grade 2 $655,000 Sam Houston Futurity. Although she did not break sharply in the final, she closed well to finish sixth, just 1¾ lengths behind the winner. Owned by Victor A. Garcia, who purchased the filly for $25,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale, she looks poised for another strong effort.

Bred in Oklahoma by the Homer A. Hill Estate, Let It B Cowgirl is out of the Valiant Hero mare Jess Let It B. Katie Carlos trains the filly, who will break from the rail with Claudio P. Aguilar.

The fifth race features another accomplished juvenile, with Mister Sinatra heading the field at 5-2 on the morning line. The consistent gelding has never finished worse than third in four career starts, with two victories and a runner-up finish in the Grade 3 $75,000 Laico Bird Stakes. His consistency has already produced earnings of $32,655 for owners Jamco Dreams, LLC, which acquired him for $35,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

The Oklahoma-bred son of Dulce Sin Tacha is out of the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Little Bunny Blue and was bred by Randal E. Schwartz. Zackary Stinebaugh conditions the gelding, who will leave from post five with jockey Ali Rivera aboard.

With nearly 80 juveniles entered and only ten positions available in the August 22 championship, every break from the gate and every stride to the wire will carry added significance. The depth across the eight trial heats will make for a highly competitive evening, with standout performances likely to emerge from any division, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated futurity finals of the Texas racing season.
