MEXICO CITY, MEX–JUNE 4, 2026–The road to futurity success begins this weekend at Hipódromo de las Américas, where ninety-five talented Mexico-Bred juveniles take center stage in the Restricted Grade 2 Garanones Futurity Trials. The two-year-olds will sprint 300 yards across the first six races on both Saturday and Sunday, with the goal of earning one of ten coveted spots in the June 28 final. The estimated purse distribution for the event includes $143,580 for the Futurity Final and $15,721 for the Consolation.

Saturday’s action features an intriguing group of rising stars, led by Dk Paleta Dulce in the fifth trial heat. Installed as the 5-2 morning-line favorite, the promising filly has already shown flashes of brilliance in her young career. She made an impressive debut, drawing away to a 1¾-length victory in her trial, securing a berth in the $147,000 Mexico Futurity. Although she encountered trouble in the final and finished sixth, her early speed and natural talent suggest she remains among the leading contenders heading into this weekend.

Dk Paleta Dulce is a daughter of Danny Cartel, out of the Jess Good Candy mare Good First Choice. Bred in Mexico by Cuadra La Presita, she races for Cuadra Alpuyeca and is conditioned by Antonio Garcia Carranza. Breaking from post four, she will again have Alejandro Gomez Lopez in the saddle as she seeks to secure her spot in the futurity final.

One of the major storylines heading into the trials is the absence of Dk Mirnalda, the Mexico Futurity (RG3) winner. The standout filly, owned by Cuadra San Martin, was not formally entered in the Garanones Futurity Trials, though her sustaining payments were reportedly made to maintain eligibility. Also absent from the trial entries is Dk Chispada Two, owned by Cuadra Guillen. The filly recorded the fastest qualifying time for the Mexico Futurity and later finished third in the final, making her another notable omission from this weekend’s competition.

With those accomplished runners absent from the trial roster, Kc Nocturno emerges as a leading contender for the Garanones Futurity. The gelding headlines Sunday’s fifth trial heat as the 5-2 morning-line favorite and will break from the inside post under veteran jockey Nestor Duran. He has yet to miss the board in three career starts and enters the trials off a strong runner-up effort in the $147,000 Mexico Futurity, finishing a half-length behind the winner.

Owned by Cuadra San Martin, Kc Nocturno has already earned $28,907 and established himself as one of the most consistent juveniles in the crop. The son of Krash Cartel is out of the Favorite Cartel mare Estrella De Noche and was bred in Mexico by Abelardo F. Gallegos. Trainer Luis Enrique Cruz Solis will send him to the gate in search of a qualifying performance that would earn a return trip on June 28.

Cuadra San Martin will also be represented by Kc Jess Krash, entered as the number-three horse in Sunday’s opening race. The talented filly is a full sister to Mexican Triple Crown winner Rey De Manny and enters the trials after finishing fourth in the Mexico Futurity Final. Her proven stakes experience and strong pedigree make her another serious contender to advance to the championship event later this month.

With ninety-five Mexico-Bred juveniles set to compete in twelve trial heats over two days, every stride will matter as the next generation of stars vies for a place in the Restricted Grade 2 Garanones Futurity Final. The absence of several top performers from the Mexico Futurity has created an opening for new names to emerge, while proven runners such as Kc Nocturno and Kc Jess Krash look to capitalize on their experience. Fans can expect plenty of speed, emerging talent, and dramatic finishes as these young runners chase one of the most important juvenile prizes of the season at Hipódromo de las Américas.
